I have an hp wireless mouse I found in the closet. There are batteries in it and the red light is on. The receiver, when plugged into the computer, has a flashing light on it. The mouse does not seem to respond. Any suggestions?

I have an HP wireless mouse and keyboard, my mouse suddenly stopped working, how can I fix?

It is possible the mouse needs new batteries or needs to be charged.

Try replacing the batteries to see if the mouse starts working.

If that does not work then try re-inserting the wireless receiver into a different USB slot.

Wireless mouse stopped working. green light works

This can happen when the battery's are starting to die. Replace the batteries and then test the device again.

I have tried 3 fresh, new batteries

What is the exact model of wireless mouse you have? You may have a laser wireless mouse, which may not emit any visible light. The red light on other wireless mice are either a different optical mouse technology, or a red light for the purpose of being pretty. Not all wireless mice have a red light that you can see. Does the mouse work (regardless of the light)? Have you hit the connect button? Have you connected the wireless receiver to a working USB port?

HP wireless mouse

Try replacing the batteries. Wireless mice do funky things when the batteries are low.

New wireless mouse quit working after 2 days.

Hi bobbii1968,

  1. Try replacing the batteries. Do not use alkaline batteries. Use ordinary Eveready battery.
  2. Check polarity when placing battery in mouse
  3. Ensure red infrared light is on. If on, there is hope in getting the mouse to work
  4. Plug in USB wireless receiver.
  5. Press button on receiver and below the mouse.
  6. This should work fine.
Update us again if the above does not work?

Thank you for taking time to read this.

Wireless mouse not working

Did you try
Normal 0 Turn the mouse over and find the small rest/connect button on the bottom of the mouse and press it to Reset/Connect the mouse to the receiver and work properly.
If not, try pressing the receiver button and then press the mouse. This should be done whenever you change batteries or glitch.
Hope this helps you. Bud
