To play classic ipod on pioneer car stereo

I have a Classic I-pod version 3.1.1. The manual for my Pioneer DEH-P310UB car stereo says it will play the Classic I-pod version 1.1.2. Can I get this stereo to play my updated I-pod version? Or can I revert my I-pod software back to 1.1.2 in order to play it in the van? I'm going on a long road trip and wish to play this I-pod on the road. Thank you. Carol

Andy, Which should be no problem, changing the stereo or changing the I-pod? Thanks, Carol

Should be no problem

  • Anonymous Jun 02, 2009

why do you think the software on ur ipod will be a problem?

  • Anonymous Jun 02, 2009

all new software should be backwards compatible, if your stereo said u needed newer software then you would have a problem old software on a new stereo should be ok

I have a Pioneer DEH-P4150UB car stereo with usb-ipod connection. This was working this morning however when I connect the ipod now there is no volume coming from the system. The tuner works on the system...

you can try a soft reset on ipod by holding the menu and center button at the same time for 10-15 seconds and/or reset your radio by taking face off of it and pushing the reset button on the stereo too.

My Pioneer car stereo recognizing the songs on my IPod 3G

I had this exact same problem. Here is how I just figured out how to fix it. First of all, my friend as an iTouch as well, so I plugged his iTouch into my DEH-P4000UB, similar to your 3100UB, and it actually worked and played music. So I went to my Music then selected a song and pressed pause. I turned on the car and then plugged the USB cable into my iTouch, exactly the same as yours. When I replugged my iTouch into my deck it gave me a different error this time, Error-19. Refreshing but still frustrating. So I turned off the car, unplugged the USB cable and tried it one more time. This time I selected "Repeat" on the song, don't ask me why, but this is exactly what I just did. I turned on the car, plugged the USB and it worked!!!

I understand your frustration and I've been dealing with it for a while now. So hopefully this helps. Good Luck!

New iTouch doesn't work in DEH-P4800MP

The newest versions of the Iphone uses USB charging only, while older generations of (any) Ipods used firewire for charging. First generation Iphone and Ipod Touch could be charged with either method. Most docks historically used the firewire charging method, making them incompatible with all but 1st generation Iphones. You need a new cable/charger that charges with the USB method.

Jensen vm9412 and ipod classic

The newer generation iPods don't always work with the iPod connection kits in a lot of the car stereos. Some of the problem is due to the fact that the new generation iPods have been changed and the stereos were manufactured before the players were released so they are not compatible.
I bought my girlfriend a Pioneer car stereo with an iPod control cable, and it works fine with her Nano (not the new generation Nano) and it works with my iPod Photo 60 GB but it does not work with my iPhone 2G and I read that it is not compatible with the new Nanos or the Classics. Check with Jensen to see if the model you have is compatible with the Classic and see if there is a solution to the issue. It may not be compatible with the new video portion of the Classic firmware.

Cheers
