Firstly, try a 90 degree wash. If this does not heat up you can acces the heating element very easily.
Put the machine in a clear area. Put a thick cloth or blanket on the floor and gently lay the machine on its left side, looking from the rear.
Remove the inspection cover at the back and you will see two large connections at the bottom of the drum. This is where the element is. just unscrew it, pull out the element and change it.
It is much easier to do this with the machine on its side as you can get at things from the back AND the bottom!
If you wish, you can get a test meter, remove one connection and check the element for continuity before you remove it

Both the 'wash' & the 'dryer' have their own heating elements, If the 'wash' completes its full cycle including 'spin', then I suspect this heat element is ok.Re the dryer, most likely the heat element circuit is 'open circuit' somewhere, could be  the element, thermal fuse, thermostat, or a wire burned out

I have a Hotpoint Aquarius WD420 washer/dryer that is not heating the washing water, yet does heat when in drying mode. Does the machine use the same heating element for washing and drying, or are there...

There is a seperate element for the water heater. so likely to be a faulty heater or thermistor which is fastened toi the element
You really need a test meter to determine which part is faulty.

Hotpoint aquarious wd 440 two years old tripping main board

A faulty heater in both a washing machine and dishwasher will trip swithes because they both cause an earth........the chances are you heater needs replacing......the reason its tripping after a short period is probably beacause the cycle doesnt start heating the water until after approx 15-20 mins depending on the cycle chosen

Hotpoint WD 865- washes ok, dryer won't work makes loud popping

sounds like the dryer heater element has worked loose perhaps and shorted out against the metal dryer box which sits on top of the drum.
best to get an engineer out i'd say.

Washer dryer not heating up

If your dryer won't heat up, it's possible that it is not being supplied with the proper voltage. Here are three ways to make sure power is getting to your dryer: First, make sure your dryer is plugged in. Next, check the circuit breaker panel to make sure all the circuit breakers are in the correct positions. Finally, check to make sure no fuses in your fuse panel are blown. Any of these could explain why power is not getting to your dryer.

Hotpoint BWD129 1200 spin - unwanted drying cycles

This is more a workaround than a solution. When you choose the washing programme (say "D") and push the on/off button, two lights will flash, the "door locked" and the "drying" one. Now turn the "drying programme" button until the "drying" light stops flashing (in my case, this is true when I set the drying programme to 40°C). Then start the washing mashine.

Seems like the function of the drying programme button has shifted against the settings written on the button...don't ask me why! Of course, no guarantee but works for me. Please let me know if it does for you.
