to get to the recovery consol press and hold the power button when ps3 is in standby mode(red light) till you hear a double beep. sometimes the ps3 does a beep then another beep and goes back into standby thsi is fine just release the power and quikly press and hold it again till you get double beep.

like on my 80g system it goes like this

ps3 standby...press hold power.......beep .........beep........stanby again....release and hold power again.......beep .........double beep...release power now you should be in recovery menu.

Im afriad your going to have to buy a new playstation3 console. Sony no longer produce 60Gb consoles and they will not replace or repair your console. Im guessing youve had your 60Gb for over one year so theres no warranty.
Sad to say but you have to buy a new one. eBay have some good offers. ;)

Emergency cooling should be cleaned. If not cleaned, you risk expensive repair.

That is a hard drive issue. My buddy had the same thing happen to his.

If it is not under warranty, it will cost you around $200. Sony sends you a box, you ship it to them and then they ship it back when it's fixed, which round trip takes about a month.

The yellow light means that you must immediately contact Sony support as this generally means death for the PS3. It is a defect most known with the 20GB and 60GB launch models. If your console is under warranty, Sony will replace it free of charge. If it is not, Sony will charge $150 to fix it.

your ps3 is trying to tell you that it it is broken to point it needs looked at call sony at 1800-345-7669 to see if it is under warrenty

The only thing I can recommend doing is backing up your info and then trying to get to the restore option under the ps3 before the green squares pop up, if you are not able then contact Sony before your lose your warranty.

Try removing the HDD via the little door on the left side of your PS3? Try an boot without the HDD then see what happens? I am up to my second HDD after my first one caused similar problems (60GB model). I hope that this helps?
