My dryer did the same thing. I had to replace the front support glide assembly and needed 4 teflon glides.
The front part of the dryer runs over this plastic piece seen here upside down.
The dryer makes a loud noise and also a rubber sme - 00087335.jpg
this part is about $50 CAN there are 4 plastic or teflon glides that fit into this.
My dryer had worn through the teflon glides and start wearing away this piece.
My dryer is a GE front load dryer. And I did get a burning smell because the dryer was wearing away the plastic. After the teflon strips wore down.
Hope this helps

Hi,
the motor is overheating. i recommend inspecting the motor windings for splits or separation within the strands. make sure all wire connectors to the motor are not corroded or lose. replace the motor if there are signs of windings failures or discolored copper strands....

I have an LG DLE5932W. I've been trouble shooting the dryer the past couple of days. It is making a loud vibrating noise that seems to be coming the element side of the dryer. Today I turned it on, went...

A vibration tells me it may be the idler pulley(s). If the pulley seizes, the belt will burn and break. If it smelled like burning rubber, then thats what happened

Our dryer has started making a loud thumping sound and smells like rubber burning?

It sounds like you your dryer may have a bad Blower Wheel, which is causing the banging noise that you are hearing (especially if the banging noise continues for a few sections after you turn your dryer off).

Hope this is helpful.

My dryer drum stopped turning. The dryer will turn on

it does sound like the belt is broken. you will need to access the inside of the dryer by removing the front. they all come apart differently. Make and Model would help me tell you more.
