After running the HWD1000 for about a minute, it stops and gives an E31 message. I call the company and they suggested unplugging it, pushing each button on the control panel for 3 seconds. This didn't solve the problem. The unit ran well until the warrenty ran out (of course). Any ideas I bought my machine in May 2008 and after about 3 month started getting the E31 error during the rinse cycle. I called Haier and they sent a technician as it was still under warranty. The technician couldnt fix the problem so Haier sent me a new machine.. now 8 months later, I am having the getting the same error message during the rinse cycle. And of course this happens just as the warranty expires..
E31 Motor
The feedback signal does not change in 8 minutes during the motor runs <-- Bad translation that probably means bad sensor or electronics issue.
Call repair people and then get a new machine sent if still under warranty.
I just fix the error, I searched the internet and say, engine problem, I found no more nothing, then slept on the floor the machine and check the wire to remove the plug from the engine I could see that the contacts were sulfated (oxidized) and the clean and the machine was working well, but as the contacts were very rusty preferred cut the first 3 wires (red, black and yellow) were those oxidized and the draw (union) direct, to make sure that in the future no further rusting again, in my case it solved the problem, I hope for your case too ...
SOURCE: error code 8
Could be water valve stuck open/ malfunction on coil. or possibly level control valve.

solved!!!! theres a flaw in the machine, lint builds up in air return area from the back of the machine to the heater, takes about 45 min to fix, take off lid and back pannel, remove weight, remove heater wires and hoses, remove plastic air return area, clean out lint, put back together, the air temp sensor is in the plasic housing in the rear of the plastic housing, the lint blocks air from circulating and triggers warning
