There is no resistance(as normal) when slide door open but nothing happens. The lens does not move out like normal--not at all----there is no message anywhere----I re-ck the batteries both---put in charger----and neither battery made any difference------In the past I had 3 experiences where a tiny tiny piece of grit got lodged---usually was difficult to move slide when that happened and blown out was good again---using either airgun or inone case just my persistant blowing at it worked but this seems differenct.

lens only moves fractionally though battery is fully charged.

    Dear Jim,
I have the same problem - camera works when front cover is off, little white switch is activated but when reassembled the front slide fails to activate the on/off white switch above. How to get that slider off though - did you have any luck?

Hi
Sounds like the problem with mine - the fault is with a broken mechanism that operates the switch. The front cover can be removed (carefully) by unscrewing the six tiny allen screws retaining the front cover (two on the bottom and two each side).

Once the screws are removed gently lift off the front cover, you can then see how the slider pushes the small white (on mine) lever, to activate the mechanism - this can be done with the cover off to test it out.

Haven't been able to find a repair scheme yet, so I might resort to some micro mechanical modifications as I like the camera.

Not a fix I know but I hope this helps a little

Jim

SONY VAIO LAPTOP WONT FIND MY WIRELESS STICK

That's a typical response, if it's a hardware problem , blame the software, etc. Try here for support and drivers: http://www.dodo.com/top-right-navigation/support/technical-support/ If you shut down , unplug the Laptop and remove battery, plug in, reboot. When it reboots fully insert the USB, do you get ANY response? Run your Windows Updates to make sue your Updates are current.

Olympus Stylus 730 shuts off after few seconds. Battery is fully charged, tried a resetting: no change.

To save battery power, the camera automatically goes into sleep mode and the monitor turns off if there is no operation when the camera is turned on (when the lens cover opens and the monitor is on). No picture is taken even if the shutter button is fully pressed in this mode.
Operate the zoom lever or other buttons to restore the camera from sleep mode before taking a picture. If the camera is left for 15 minutes, it automatically turns off (the lens cover closes and the monitor turns off). Press POWER to turn the camera on.

Camera

Please check the following things when the camera does not turn on.

Possible causes and how to handle them

1. The camera is not on

Turn on the camera. (Operation procedure varies between camera models. Please refer to the camera user guide supplied with your camera.)

2. The rechargeable battery is not fully charged.

Make sure the rechargeable battery is fully charged. If the battery has not been used for an extended period of time, or if it is being used for the first time, it may not be fully charged. In cases like this, fully charge the battery and then discharge it completely in the camera several times to bring the battery back to its normal performance.

The rechargeable battery's capacity diminishes the longer the battery is used. When the battery consumption becomes quicker, the battery life may be at its end. Replace the battery with a new one.

3. The battery terminals are dirty.

When camera does not operate with a brand-new alkaline battery (for cameras that use AA-size batteries) or with a fully charged rechargeable battery, the terminals may be dirty.
Polish the terminals with a dry cloth and make sure the terminals are clean. If the terminals are covered with oil from your skin or similar matter, this may cause poor contact and power may not be fully supplied to the camera.

Also, polish the battery charger terminals with a dry cloth before charging the battery. If the terminals are covered with oil from your skin or similar matter, this may cause poor contact and the battery may not be fully charged.

4. The batteries are not installed correctly (for cameras that use AA-size batteries)

For cameras that use AA-size batteries, multiple batteries are used in one camera. Make sure the direction of each battery matches the direction indicated on the camera. If any of the batteries are improperly inserted, the camera will not operate.

5. The battery cover or CF card (SD card) slot cover is not securely closed

Most cameras have a lock mechanism on the battery cover. The camera will not turn on if the battery cover is not locked or securely closed, or if the CF card (SD card) slot cover is not securely closed. Make sure these covers are securely closed.

If your camera does not operate after checking each of these things, or if there is any visible damage on your camera that could be the cause, please contact the nearest Service Center.
