I bought a new replacement remote for an insignia tv. the tv has been programmed on dvd input with a universal replacement remote that is now lost. I can't get the tv input changed to 'tv' to even start programming the new remote. It's almost the first step to program the new remote to 'tv'. I can't. I have no idea what to try. Please help.
Most TVs have manual buttons somewhere on the set to control volume up and down, channels up and down, and usually a menu button to access the settings. I'm not familiar with Insignia TVs but do a google search for your brand and model. If you don't have your original manual you should be able to find one online that shows where the manual control buttons are located and how to change the settings manually without a remote.

I had the exact problem...tried a number of things that did not work. My dog "ate" my original remote. After reading your solution I took the universal remote that was programmed to work with the tv and tried holding down each button for a few seconds hoping that one would work like the display button on the original remote. It worked. I have a GE universal remote and the menu/info button worked for me. Again, you need to hold it in for a couple of seconds. Thanks for the help and I hope my added solution helps other people. Claudia in Minnesota

Hello
Most universal remotes should have a TV/Video button. Look carefully on the remote. Or get another brand remote.
Also depending on your Sanyo model there may be a TV/Video switch on the front of the set. Look for a possible small cover along the bottom.

OK, I and many others have had a problem using this TV with remotes that are not the original (i.e. universal remotes). I have Comcast cable and the remote they gave me with the cable box will operate most of the functions of the TV, but the volume down botton always brings up the TV setup menu.
I solved this by purchasing the Phillips SRU4208WM/17 remote at Wal-mart and teaching it the functions of the original remote by using the Learning mode.
It works great now. Volume up and down, channel up and down, etc.

Definitely (Emerson) 720 for the Disney DT1350 TV...I'd love to have the code(s) for the DVD player, but I don't even know where to start. Thanks whoever tipped off mfr by Magnavox or Emerson.
