Tv input stuck on dvd

I bought a new replacement remote for an insignia tv. the tv has been programmed on dvd input with a universal replacement remote that is now lost. I can't get the tv input changed to 'tv' to even start programming the new remote. It's almost the first step to program the new remote to 'tv'. I can't. I have no idea what to try. Please help.

Most TVs have manual buttons somewhere on the set to control volume up and down, channels up and down, and usually a menu button to access the settings. I'm not familiar with Insignia TVs but do a google search for your brand and model. If you don't have your original manual you should be able to find one online that shows where the manual control buttons are located and how to change the settings manually without a remote.

SOURCE: tv is locked

I had the exact problem...tried a number of things that did not work. My dog "ate" my original remote. After reading your solution I took the universal remote that was programmed to work with the tv and tried holding down each button for a few seconds hoping that one would work like the display button on the original remote. It worked. I have a GE universal remote and the menu/info button worked for me. Again, you need to hold it in for a couple of seconds. Thanks for the help and I hope my added solution helps other people. Claudia in Minnesota

SOURCE: Sanyo MTS TV

Hello
Most universal remotes should have a TV/Video button. Look carefully on the remote. Or get another brand remote.

Also depending on your Sanyo model there may be a TV/Video switch on the front of the set. Look for a possible small cover along the bottom.

SOURCE: Memorex MT2024 programing

OK, I and many others have had a problem using this TV with remotes that are not the original (i.e. universal remotes). I have Comcast cable and the remote they gave me with the cable box will operate most of the functions of the TV, but the volume down botton always brings up the TV setup menu.

I solved this by purchasing the Phillips SRU4208WM/17 remote at Wal-mart and teaching it the functions of the original remote by using the Learning mode.

It works great now. Volume up and down, channel up and down, etc.

I lostmy remote how do i get my insignia tv to dvd mode

Some Insignia tvs have a button on the bottom to select the input mode. Otherwise try finding a replacement remote or universal remote that will work.

I Have an insignia tv and lost the remote control, I was able to find a similar insignia remote control to the one I lost. How can I program the new insignia control remote I acquired to my insignia tv.

Hello
All Insignia TV remotes are not alike. The frequency of infrared rays out from each remote control will be entirely different to each other according tho the model numbers of the TVs and remote controls. A typical model will have same model number of remotes, and the remote you have got is with the same model of your tVs it must work proper. Otherwise you have to buy a new one for your Insignia TV model. you can bought from the authorised service center for Insignia at your town. If you have no access to authoised service center nearby you, just buy one universal remote control, which has set up codes for Insignia. . Check its manual, that it have setup codes for Insignia. OK.

Not all remote control devices use the same signalling method for Infrared communication. You may have to get a true universal remote like a Logitech Harmony which can not only output most signaling codes but can learn codes from your existing remotes. It also permits one to define tasks, such as "Watch DVD" using a relatively simple web interface. Once programmed, pressing Watch DVD will cause it to turn on the proper devices with the proper inputs selected.
Note that these programmable remotes can be expensive. I bought an older Harmony 550 for a lower price and it handles my satellite box, stereo system, TV, DVD and VCR with one-button selections.
