Dishwasher hums intermitantly and after the wash cycle is completed

The dishwasher has started to hum or whine several times during the cycle and even after the cycle is finished. This KitchenAid model does not have a macerator and the filters are not clogged. It fills, washes and dries properly.

As noted below I found the problem - a faulty 'vent' - and it is as quiet as ever. See testmonial, posted in the wrong place below, for the part number. In hindsight, it should have been obivious that it was the vent fan that comes on to dry the dishes because the noise continued after the washer completed the cycle and was continuing to vent the machine.

Sounds like you have a bearing going out. It could be in the system pump or the rotating washing arms. I would suggest getting ahold of Kitchenaid's customer support and relay when during which cycle the noise occurs and they should be able to identify whats going wrong.

Testimonial: "I believe I have located the problem. This KitchenAid dishwasher has a vent fan located high in the door. That is exactly where the noise originates and continues after the cycle is complete, probably while it continues to dry. I will replace the "Vent", part #W10462768, and report back. As information, searching online to try to find or get a solution to this issue has been an unusual disappointment. People want to help but generic answers related to dishwashers in general rather that this dishwasher in specific is not helpful."

I am happy you found a solution to your issue. Very difficult to diagnose when not in the presence if the offending item, sometimes. I hope this fan cures your dishwashers ailments, best of luck.

My samsung dishwasher has a constant buzz that occurs during start up and lasts through all of the cycles. I saw where there is an electrical noise filter and did not know if that could be the cause.

No a noise filter is a different kettle of fish. That stops electrical interference noise from affecting your television, radios and electrical devices.

The most likely source of the hum is the start capacitor on the motor, or the motor itself.

This has a different idea

Humming or Grinding If your Samsung dishwasher makes noise when starting that sounds like a low hum, it's part of normal function. The motor makes this sound as it operates throughout the wash cycle. However, a dishwasher making loud humming noise or grinding sounds could mean that debris is caught in the drain pump.

Samsung Dishwasher Making Noise? Follow These Tips

This says the drain pump, but the drain pump only runs to empty out so it wouldn't do it all the time.

Loud humming just started during wash cycle

Humming can be simply due to a mechanical vibration when the wash pump is running. Alternatively it could be the sound of the detergent door solenoid which might be stuck.
Will need make and model number of dishwasher to give further advise. Does the dishwasher complete the cycle and drain out the water?

My dishwasher is just 6 months old and started making a humming sound while washing in th wash cycle.

If you hear unusual noises during dishwasher operation, check to see if a dish or cup is loose and being knocked around during the wash cycle. If you hear grinding, grating, crunching or a buzzing sound, chances are a hard object has gone into the wash module. Once the object is ground up, the noises should cease.

GU1500XTL loud humming sound during the cycle, getting louder

The run capacitor on the main wash motor needs replacing. Eventually it will just hum and overheat instead of rotating, so better replace it now before it overheats.

I doubt you can acces it easily yourself, as it may be away from the motor, and have to be tracked down.

There is a recall on the control board of many of these models, butyour problem is likely not related. It sounds like a plugged drain system or a possible bad drain pump. That's why you are hearing the pump running constantly. I have written a guide to help. It is here. Thanks!

Yes, bearing, most definitely. It is a cheap part but difficult to replace.
