Hi, I don't know whether this may help you, however search for "neadrenalin" and "nuvi" or "service firmware" in gpspassion.com , you'll find a discussion on how to flash firmware even if USB connection isn't available.

Need more info: Does it not power up at all or does it stick on the intro screen?

You can try a master reset. With the unit off hold your finger on the upper right hand corner of the touch screen and tap the power button.  Continue holding your finger on the screen until you see a message "This operation will erase all waypoints, do you want to continue?" (this could take up to a minute)

Tap yes and the unit should reboot then attempt to acquire satellites.

If this doesn't solve your USB problem. Go to the garmin website and download the latest software update, and the usb driver for your model.

How do you download a map to the Nuvi 200

Here is what you need to do to update the map your Garmin nuvi 200; first make sure the unit is fully charged, then go to the Garmin web site and register your product. Next download Garmin Updater and connect your nuvi with a USB cable directly to your computer and not thru a USB hub. Let the update go directly to the GPS and not a folder. It will take a few hours even with a fast internet connection. When done follow the instructions on your screen. I have attached a link to the Garmin site. Thanks for using FixYa

Garmin 200 won't turn on, flashes "Garmin" screen when plugged in

I connected the unit to the car charger instead of the USB charger and then held down the reset for 10-15 seconds, after which the system would show the computer connection on the charger and then boot up when not on the charger.

Nuvi 350 System Software Missing

If you have a nuvi 350 download the software to your computer and then load the software onto a formatted sd card. Insert the sd card and bootup the Nuvi 350. The sofware will then load onto the Nuvi 350. If you have a Nuvi 200 I would think it works the same but I have not tried it.
Hope this helps

My Garmin Nuvi (200 I think) freezes..

My recomendation is to use the original accesory for cigarete lighter. I'll give you an example: when I connect my Nuvi 200 to any other USB cable (computer or home charger) its behaviour is like you said - it "says" that is connected to a computer and remains in stand by. But when I connect it to cigarette lighter (but note - the original one) the nuvi 200 recognize it as a car power source and works. The battery symbol disappear from screen and it works perfectly. When I turn off the engine or simply unplug the device from cigarette lighter (not from nuvi !) it recognizez that and ask me if I want tu turn it off on remains on on own battery. If I make no option the nuvi will turn off automatically after some seconds. So it recognize perfectly the car adapter and its behaviour is adapted to a car.
