When the new device pops up, it should tell you if it installed the device and if the device is working. If it did, the it should be listed in Windows Explorer similar to a disk drive. If it is there and you click on it the the right side of Windows Explorer should display the camera view.
If there is no camera in Windows Explorer, then go to control panel and see if you can find it there. Depending on your Windows, look under Imaging Devices, Devices and Printers Camera & Scanners.... If there is no listing for it, the driver did not install. Locate the driver for the camera and install it.

I have a Dell 530 S Dell Inspiron. Its Webcam has stopped working. Any solutions

The very first step is of course to check your web cam connection. Most web cams use the USB port to connect to the PC, so check if your USB cable is properly plugged. For build-in web cams this steps does of course not apply. Many new laptops have a build-in web cam. Also try connecting your web cam directly to your PC instead of through a USB hub (if you are using one).

The next thing is to do is to check your Windows Device Manager and see if the hardware is recognized and installed properly.

It might be that the hardware is recognized as a camera, but the right drivers are not installed. The yellow explanation mark will indicate a problem.
Other devices in Windows XP device manager

If the device is not recognized in Windows XP, Right-click the device, and in the pop up menu select Update Driver Software. Then follow the instructions on screen, but make sure you allow Windows to search the web for updated drivers.

In case no driver for the web cam can be found, you can try a third party driver finding program that scans your PC for installed hardware and allows you to install missing drivers.

If this fails, the next step would be to un install the software that came with your web cam. Use the Add or Remove Programs feature in the Control Panel. If that does not work you can use a third party un installer.

After un installing the software, restart your PC and then reinstall the web cam software. In most cases this will solve the problems. Depending on the software, you might need to unplug your web cam during the software installation. If your problem is not fixed then you have to buy a new one.

Hope the above information will be helpful to you.
Thanks.
tip

When installing a Web-Cam make sure your old cam has been uninsulated.

When you set up a new Web-Cam for your computer go under to the computers Start up Key, click the "Computer" button, and you will see a option to pick from. Click "Control Panel" and a list of installed programs, and accessories installed in your computers memory will come up. Find your old Web-Cam under the installed "Device Manager" icon.
Uninstall your old cam, and make sure the New one IS NOT plugged in at this point. After you uninstall the old one, you can then PLUG in the new cam, go back to "Device Manager" and click on "View Hardware and Devices" and your computer should recognize you have new hardware plugged into one of your USB ports, and a balloon should pop up, and Click that ballon, your computer SHOULD read and install the Cam, if not use your "Device Manager" and IF a disk came with your Cam, put it into your computer at this point if you already havent. Your PC should recognize what you are tring to do, and install the Cam. Hope this helps, if not type Web Cam into the search engine in your computers search tab, while under the Device Manager, and it will tell you step by step on how to do lots of things.

Phillips go gear 8gb

Reset the player by inserting a paerlcip into the reset hole. If that fails, go to Philips' website and upgrade the firmware on your player to solve the freezing issue permanently. Actually, don't go to Philips website - run the Philips Device Manager and select Update. If the device manager won't recognize the player, unplug the GoGear, hold in either the shuffle button or volume + and reconnect it to the computer until a Found New Hardware Wizard window pops up.

My computer no longer recognizes my JVC GR-D70U mini DV cam when I plug it into a usb port.

Hi, I am not sure. But I believe the camcorder has to be on when you connect to the computer. and I assume you use firewire for this particular camcorder.
I too once had this problem when I used Windows Vista. If you too use Vista, try it with Windows XP.

cheers,

My sandisk c240 charges when plugged in but fails to be recognized on the computer

There is quite possibly a problem with the USB cable or the USB port on the computer, but try this shortcut force to force the computer to recognize the Mp3 player: Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard

No response, no turn-on, dead player! help!

Same thing just happened to my M260, did you ever get an answer? Thanks, Jeff. Problem: No response, no turn-on, dead player! help!by mtx410 on Aug 28, 2006 I was loading files, when the transfer locked up, and the computer threw an error. i couldn't do anything but unplug the player! After I did this, i tried plugging it back in, and half of the world "initializing" popped up on the screen, the first half was missing! it did not do anything more. so i unplugged it again. Now when I plug it in, nothing happens. The computer recognizes that new hardware is plugged in, but cannot recognize what it is. Nothing comes on the mp3 player's screen. It will not power up when i hit the power button. It has no response, it acts like there is no battery in it. I have taken the battery out, and put it back in. Nothing happens when any of the buttons are pressed, or when it is plugged into the computer. Is there anything I can do to get this thing working again! It is the M260 if that matters.
