Try uninstalling the software.
re start the computer and re installing- seems as if there is an incomplete set up.

Hi, I have a mp800 cannon printer and for the past few days it either doesn't print part of a document, or on other ocassions it will printer gray lines over everything and lastly the pages have come...

The chances are the printhead is clogged and needs to be soaked overnight in warm distilled water to dissolve the dried ink. Remove the cartridges, use plastic electrical tape to cover the ink outlets to avoid the ink drying, remove the printhead and soak it overnight. (you may have to repeat the soaking if the ink is really dried).
Blot the printhead with a lintfree cloth being careful not to damage the electronics. Reinsert the printhead and test print.
This should clear the problem.

1. The print head cartridge keeps locking itself up on the right hand side.

Doesn’t sound like your are making it into service mode, make sure the inner door is all the way up, make sure the top is closed, make sure both feeders have paper in them, make sure to turn off the power but do not unplug it. Start by pressing the stop/reset button first and then power button.

Foutcode 6500 pixma mp800

The 6500 error code is a logic board error code. The PCI Bus error is detected by the ASCI. Sounds like it needs new logic board. but i suggest you to first of all you can try to reset your printer -

1. Turn the printer off with the Power button (if available).
2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer.
3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in.
4. Turn the printer back on. If this works you're done, if not try the next step.

1. After confirming that the printer is powered on, open the paper output tray.
2. Open the top cover and wait until the print head moves to the center.
3. Open the inner cover and check that ink tanks are properly seated.
4. Properly seated
5. Press down on each ink tank until a click is heard.
6. Close the inner cover and top cover

if reset method not works for you then you go for the new logic board replacement .........

Top cover will not remain open

I am not completely familiar with that model of machine, but most doc feeders have an adjusting screw on the hinge to increase the spring pressure Most are accessible from the back, it may be recessed, so you might need a flashlight to locate it. Some require the removal of an inspection cover in the back of the hinge.
If you locate one, adjust it to just hold the feeder in place, too much tension may create a problem with it sitting properly in the down position, and pressure on the belt when feeding.

Hope this is of some help.
