Pip position My benq 6100 is projecting too high on the screen. I tried to adjust the pip position when hooked up to laptop (as this is the only time I see that specific menu option). However selecting one of the many pip postions in the menu does not result in the picture moving down, left or right. What do I need to do to activate this or is it a technical projector problem? thx.

Hi there

The PIP ( picture in picture ) is only to determine where the Menu block itself will show on your screen.

Try the Vertical and Horisontal shift in the Menu Options.

How do i get the pip, Picture in picture to work ??

If it has the feature buttons on the remote for it, swap, position etc.

Some older sets have to have signal routed to one of the rear video inputs for a source for the PIP. Newer sets have two tuners--one for main and one for PIP---if pulled up the swap will switch one picture for the other--some allow both on the screen at same time side by side.

Read the owner manual to see if the set has PIP.

This projector will run for hours if it is not hooked up to a laptop. once it hooks up to a laptop, it overheats and shuts down within minutes. we have tried switching out the video cords.

Can you try setting the brighness to a low level, and set the fan speed to high speed.
adjust the colour mode in the menu to standard not dynamic.

I am hooked up to a projecter but the projecter is not projecting my computer screen i am using an acer aspire 5315-2153 i have pressed shift-f8 and shift-f5

Your laptop screen resolution is to high for the project to show, on the laptop goto the display properties by right clicking on the screen, goto settings, in that window at the bottem you will see a slider that says resolution adjust slide the slider back towards the left until the setting 800 by 600 is showing, then on the other side change the bit rate to 16bit or 24bit, click apply, OK , and turn the laptop off, rig up the projector and turn the laptop back on, you should now have your windows screen on your projector. hope this helps and post back your results. thanks.

Convergence problem

This is out of the service manual

don't forget to write the setting to rom by hitting the pip button twice

Good luck and don't hesitate to ask questions

2.12.5 Convergence point adjustment
Adjustment preparation
(1) Select color to adjust.
“STATUS” - Green
“0” - Red
“ANT” - Blue
(2) Use 4, 6, 2, and 5 to move the cursor position
(dotted lines).
(3) Use thumb stick to move the convergence point.
(4) Three adjustment modes are available:
1. (3x3) Press “STATUS” 5 times (only works
when DCU is in uncorrected state)
2. (7x5) Press “0” 5 times
3. (13x9) Press “ANT” 5 times
For touch-up, only the (13x9) mode is necessary.
This will adjust every cross-hatch intersection point
on the screen.
For complete adjustment, start with (3x3) mode. This
will adjust center point and eight edge points only,
but will greatly reduce adjustment time. Then use
(7x5) mode, and finally (13x9) mode to finish
convergence.
If “S” distortion appears between cross-hatch lines
repeat (7x5) mode to change calculation process
while adjusting to remove distortion, then return to
(13x9) mode to finish touch-up convergence.
Adjustment procedure
(1) Receive any NTSC signal.
(2) Start adjustment at the center of the screen.
(3) Continue adjustment at next closest position.
(4) Adjust center area first, ending with edge sections.
(5) Press INFO button to perform calculation operation.
This process will take about 2 seconds and no
picture will be seen at this time.
(6) After interpolation, check convergence again and
repeat (1)-(5) if necessary.
(7) When convergence is acceptable, press PIP MODE
to write data to ROM memory. ROM WRITE? is
displayed to alarm system that ROM will be
overwritten with new data. Press the PIP MODE
button again to write displayed data to ROM.
(8) DATA WRITE TO ROM will take approximately 4
seconds and no picture will be displayed.
(9) Green dots will be displayed when operation is
completed.
(10) Press MUTE to return to convergence pattern, then
confirm again convergence is acceptable.
(11) Press PIP MODE (ROM WRITE) mode, then press
PIP CH to initialize sensor data positions.
Adjustment procedure
(12) Input any 1080I signal.
(13)Press EXIT key 5 times to exit video mode.
(14) Select an input with 1080i signal.
(15)Access menu and select ASPECT 5 mode.
(16)Press the SERVICE SW. ONLY button to enter to
DCU crosshatch signal.
(17)Repeat steps 2~11 above.
Notes: (1) Display only green for easier adjustment and
match to jig screen. Press “MENU”, THEN
PRESS “STATUS”.
(2) Perform interpolation and data write to ROM
after green adjustment. Once green has been
confirmed to match jig screen, the jig screen can
be removed. Do not readjust the green color
after jig screen has been removed. This is now
your reference color.
(3) Display green and red only and match red to
green.
(4) Display all colors and match blue to green and
red. Touch-up red color if necessary.
(5) Existing DATA in ROM can be read by pressing
the SWAP button 2 times. This data can be used
after replacing a component (CRT, DY, etc.)
Where complete convergence adjustment is not
necessary, be careful not to overwrite this data.
DO NOT write cleared RAM data into ROM or a
complete convergence adjustment will be
necessary. Remember to try MAGIC FOCUS
before starting convergence adjustment to
minimize adjustment time.

Picture in picture

i am not familiar with this model, but on most sets you will have a button on the remote to activate pip, when active you should be able to adjust channels on the small display with the remote and cycle through inputs. depending on the tv you will either have 2 inputs for your cable/sat/tv feed, or will have 1 with a dual tuner.
check the connections in the back for a second cable input, or hook up a dvd/vcr/game console/etc to test the pip.
start dvd or tape playing, press pip button to display the mini-screen, then use the tv/vcr or input button to cycle through the modes and see if one pops up. most tvs that have pip will also have a swap button on the remote, it may be labeled with text, or it may just look like one screen overlaying another, press that one to swap between displays.

hope this helps,
trin
