LG Flatron monitor problem

Hi

I bought my LG flatron just a couple of months back. For the last 3 weeks I am getting a problem with it - the screen flickers for a minute or half, and then goes completely black. I turn it off, and wait for at least 4/5 minutes and turn it on again...and it works ok, but just for a couple of minutes and then the same thing happens again.

Although it started 3 weeks back, the problem did not appear at all for 6 days or so in between, I kept using it for long hours without any problem. It reappeared 4 days back !

Please suggest a way to overcome the problem.

Thanks

Hi,

It is often difficult to diagnose/repair an intermittent problem. It could very well be any of the circuitry and components inside: video interface, CCF Lamp, inverter, power supply. All of which would require that you open the casing and poke around inside and that you be familiar with electronic components & circuitries, soldering and use of a continuity/volt meter.

Doing so would void your warranty (being just a couple of months). Perhaps your best bet would be to seek repair/replacement of the monitor from your dealer/supplier and describe fully the nature and frequency of the incidence. It may be that when they test it will check good.

Should you choose to open it up yourself, post back.

Good luck and kind regards.

My screen begins to flicker and turns too dark to see anything, the screen is still on but cant see anything. My monitor is only 4 months old.

bad capacitors are a plague they can be repaired and you may have a warranty to fall back on parts for 1 year normally check with the place you bought it and the company that made it.
otherwise you can repair them but it requires soldering skills let me know how it turns out.

Screen is fine when I first turn on TV, then goes black

Sounds like you dlp lamp is going out. That's a pretty old TV and if you are still running on the stock lamp this is exactly the type of thing that will happen. The lamp model for this particular tv is the ty-la1001. You can find that over here:

Single vertical red line

Hello Monastirion,

Is the red line there all of the time without exception, for instance when you initially turn on your pc, is it there before the operating system boots?

If so, the monitor itself is most likely broken. I would return it to wherever you bought it, if possible.

Regards,

-Chester

Monitor flashing

I have a similar problem with my screen, same one, 15". For a period of two years it would turn black for an instant and resume functioning. Since two weeks it only flashes the picture for an instant and then turns black again. We opened it up to check the wiring but nothing wrong there. We are 99.99% sure that the problem is in the screen itself and has nothing to do with drivers or anything else in the computer.
If you bought it less than 3 years ago and since it is probably a result of faulty construction, it should fall under warranty (by european law).
I am going to take mine to a repairman tomorrow, i will inform you wether the screen can be repaired or not.

Greetings,
Rengenier.
