My new VX-6000 web cam (3rd one from Best Buy) doesn't seem to work at all when I have both the mic AND video going. It works fine in Skype and MSN Messenger Live with just audio...but when I go to use both Mic (audio) and Video, the person on the other end has to turn down their speakers due to the screeching noise sounds and can only hear my garbled voice off and on. I've bought and taken back 3 of the darn things and no dice each time I try a new one. My bandwidth is fine (4600Kps download and 750 to 800kps upload with DSL connection) and I 'think' my USB ports where I've tried plugging it in all of them, are working ok. My NIC is set for maximum thoroughput, etc. Running windows XP SP2 with all latest updates. Tried using MB built in sound, Audigy Sound Blaster PCI card, etc. Real weird echoing voice when I run through the sound setup though via windows. I don't think it's skype or MSN. And I don't think it's the cam..at least I don't think it is. Could it be my USB ports on my MB are zapped or something?
I don't know how to cancel the mic on the cam and just use video. Some one in another post suggested this...
"could be ambient/background noise being picked up by in-camera microphone"...huh? Unless my creative 5.1 speaker set or monitor is giving off ambient vibratioins (*L*)..I don't know what other noice it could be picking up. Thanks for any suggestions.

Solution for me was to unassemble/reassemble the cam as outlined here:

Basically the same deal. Would love to know how to fix it.
Basically the same problem for mine. Second from BB.
same problem here. anyone have any ideas for a fix?
have 2 systems both with LifeCam VX 6000 both on XP and in differnt environments. on or around October 3 they wroked fine. After that date all you get is a background buzz. Have made all upgrades perforamed all identified tests and nothing seems to fit. Given they weorkd fine before the only thing that could have happened is one of the upgrades from microsoft. I resored my one system to Oct 3 on November 30 and it worked fine. The next day it no longer worked again the only difference was the auto updates that are set for Microsoft. Does nayone have any ideas how to fix this??
