My Nespresso U C50 maker is not sending the espresso coffee through the spout; it goes into the capsule tray. The capsules are pierces on back and front. It 'makes' the coffee. The water draws up properly, and the machine seems to be operating properly otherwise. I have reset by pressing the lungo and espresso buttons. I have gently scrubbed the piercing plate between the capsule and the spout. I have gently inserted a toothpick into the spout. I can feel air if I blow through the spout. Water will pass through the spout if I drop it in with an eye dropper. HELP!
There are two nozzles in front of the machine attached together, the nose of the bigger one on the top slides into the smaller one on the bottom. When it makes coffee, the spout outside the machine becomes lower so coffee can come out. When it is done making coffee, the spout goes up so water/coffee drips in the drip tray. If one of the nozzles breaks, the spout on the smaller one will not go down and the inside end is lower and coffee goes inside the drip tray. It has nothing to do with cleaning.
This an accurate assumption. I have just fixed mine and it seems there are two plastic nibs on the lower spout which act to slide against the bigger spout so the lower spout is forced down to direct your coffee into a cup below.
You can get a replacement part but they are difficult to locate and apparently cost about $15.
The speed of the wear on this part depends on how much you use the machine. Mine lasted for 3 years but it is obvious to me this is planned obsolescence. I found a video on the Webb telling you what to do to remove and fit a new one. I used some 2mm soft wire to replace the worn plastic and effect a repair. Once you know what to do the job should only take about twenty minutes. there are three screws in the base (not two as the video says) and all the rest of the connections are plastic clips.
You must get the detail off the video and remember to have the machine unplugged before doing anything. If you are not technical forget it.

This is likely due to a problem with the attachment of the internal coffee outlet to the brewing unit. The outlet attaches with an upper and lower clip which seem problematic and may not hold the spout firmly in place allowing the coffee to drop into the tray. I have the same machine and the same problem -lower clip is broken. I am trying to get Nespresso to send me a replacement part MS-623333.
This device has an obvious design flaw and the simpler Pixie model would have been a better choice.
Sorry for the obvious but there is not a lot of troubleshooting for this issue... when was the last time u descaled? if more than 6 months then do one. make sure there is no capsules stuck between input and used bin. close the slider properly.if not resolved it may be a pump issue (quite common with U). machine comes with 24 month warrenty so if not resolved call your nespresso club for a claim.
hope i could help.

Hi, According to your
problem first open the coffee container and clean it properly. After cleaning fill the container with proper
quantity of coffee beans. May be the spout holes are blocked. So clean the
spout by pin. Also make clean the infuser by open the front cover of the
infuser. The ground coffee may be
blocked in the funnel. Remove the ground coffee inside the funnel using a knife.
Then clean the infuser and the inside of the appliance. Descale the machine. It
will help you.

Usually answered in minutes!
I have a U C50 with the exact same problem. After one year of flawless functioning, one day suddenly nothing at all comes out of the spout, less than an hour after it was working perfectly. The coffee is brewed normally and tastes normally, so it cannot be a pump issue. But all the coffee ends up in the capsule tray. :-( (Video available if the description isn't enough.)
