Dyer will not turn on. Can hole the starter button in and dryer will run. remove and the dryer will stop running. When holding the start button the dryer does not heat. Any Idea's as to what may be...

broken belt or broken broken belt switch most likely. Open the door. Hold in the door switch and push the start button. Does the drum turn? If it does turn then the broken belt micro switch is where I would look first. If the drum don't turn of course I would replace the broken belt.
The only Kenmore dryer that has a broken belt switch is the 4 wheel drive model. Here is a video which shows how to get into this dryer and replace the belt:

My kenmore electric dryer turns on and heats but the drum doesn't turn?

that would be a broken belt, or the motor, I say belt. You will need to open the top of the dryer and look in the middle of the drum for a belt, which is not there I am sure, here are some websites,Tim:

how to change belt:

belt routing Kenmore is same as Whirlpool:

How do I replace the heating element in Maytag Dryer SDE2606AYW Serial# 12508837EN

1.Unplug the Maytag dryer from the dryer electrical outlet and pull the dryer away from the back wall.Use a putty knife to press in the locking clip between the front and top panels. While pressing the clip in with the putty knife, lift the top panel up to unlock it from the clip.Raise the top panel into the service position allowing it to rest on the back hinges.
2.Locate the door switch connection on the inside front right corner of the Maytag dryer.Press the locking tabs in with your fingers and pull the wiring harness away from the door
switch. With a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the screw on both inside corners that secure the front panel to the sides. Lift the front panel up and away from the dryer.
3.Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the four retaining screws that secure the drum bulkhead to the front of the side panels. Remove the bulkhead from the dryer.Reach under the drum and pull the idler pulley to the left to release the belt tension.Remove the belt from the motor and idler pulley. Lift the drum up and out of the dryer unit bringing the belt with it.
4.Remove the two screws that secure the heating element to the rear bulkhead with a Phillips-head screwdriver.Disconnect the heating element terminal wires by grabbing them with needle-nose pliers at the wire leads and pulling them off of the terminals.
5.Place the new Maytag dryer heating element into the dryer and slip the wire leads over the terminals.Secure the heating element to the rear bulkhead with the retaining screws.Lift the drum and belt and place the drum back inside the dryer cabinet.Route the belt around the motor and idler pulley.Shift the idler pulley back to the right to apply belt tension.
6.Reattach the front bulkhead to the dryer using the four retaining screws.Position the front panel into place and secure it to the sides with the retaining screws.
7.Bring the top panel back down and push the front corners in to engage the locking clips.Push the Maytag dryer back into its working position and plug the power cord back into the dryer electrical outlet.

Dryer problem

I could be wrong, but I don't know of a dryer that DOESN'T use a belt to turn the drum. If the motor is turning on, and the drum is not spinning, more than likely your suspicions are correct and the belt is broken. You can find a replacement at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in the model number you have provided and look under the "Tumbler" heading for item number 5 (part #341241). The website also offers some helpful exploded view illustrations to assist in part location and installation.

Repairclinic.com carries the part at a cheaper price (item number 529597). Use the part number provided by the Sears website for your search criteria. Repairclinic also offers dryer belt installation diagrams. Just click on the "Repair Help" link at the top of the page and look under the "Special Features" section on the following page for "Dryer Belt Diagrams". Magic Chef uses diagram F. I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you have any questions.
