SOURCE: Sony center speaker and rear speakers don't work all the time

try using another speaker for the center channel and the left speaker, also watch your ohm load, most of the want a 4 ohm load. try to narrow it down to see if it is the speaker or the amp.

How to connect an amplifier to a dvd player..this is my dvd player model number--sony- mhc-gnz77d..

Connect to unnamed amplifier and for audio or audio AND video??? Hmm. Find its manual.

The mhc-gnz77d is a mini theater system, not just a DVD player.

Ok i just got the sub from a sony sswg450 i want to know is there some way to hook it up to my Pioneer home Receiver

Did you get a manual with it? According to the Sony site this speaker originates in Sony MHC-GX450.

"This product bundle includes the following models:
HCD-GX450 - STEREO MINI SYSTEM
RM-SC3 - REMOTE CONTROL for Shelf Mini Systems
SSRG444 - FRONT SPEAKER FOR MHCGX450
SS-WG450 - SUBWOOFER FOR MHCGX450"

Find the manual here and learn a bit about your seprated sub...

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=MHCGX450

See page 7.

As can be seen, the subwoofer has two connections to the mothership, very unlike the standard speaker level (+/-) speaker wire or RCA-Line-Level subwoofer out that 'normal passive or active subwoofers use, respectively.

Not knowing which of those your unspecified Pioneer receiver supports, it is impossible to say. Does your Pioneer have that control jack?

Mini-systems are generally not designed to be pieced out and used with grown-up gear. The absence of standardized connections is the clue.

I have a Sony mhc gx9000 unit but I don't have da original speakers or wires how can I use it with normal speaker wire. Speakers

I would recommend against it. The system is sold as a package with proprietary connectors for a reason.

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-documents.pl?mdl=MHCGX9000

You'll notice there are no facilities for balancing the relative volumes in the electronics. After-market speakers of unknown sensitivities would be impossible to match if it could even drive them sufficiently loud.

I have the stereo except for speakers sony SA-H7900. what to do

hi ,
as far as i understood you, you need speakers for the stereo mhc-h7900? so the originals are the sa-h7900, active (built in mono amplifier) and they have electrostatic tweeter plus some special kind of bass-control system called i not remember now. in this case maybe impossible to find some, but you can connect any kind of "active" speakers, even a crappy active 2+1 subwoofersystem would do it to get a sound out of it.

So when I turn on my sony MHC-GX8800 shelf system, it stays on for a few seconds and then turns off. The power button flashes red as well

I had a extremely similar problem with that model the only difference is that it used to turn off whenever I put the volume up. Anyway there was a peace of stranded wire behind the speakers terminal block connector, so be sure to check it out.

Sony Mhc GS100 want power up

The unit is in protect mode because a problem was deteected in the final output stage of the amplifier. The pop in the speakers is a god indication that there is DC current in the output stage. This is not a good thing. This is a relatively common failure of all receivers and can easily be fixed by any shop that does audio repair. Expect a parts cost in teh $30-$40 range.

Bought some replacement speakers and the reciever seems to get ver hot!

Hello! Yes, you need to worry when a Sony gets hot!! You probably have replaced factory 8 ohm speakers with 4 ohm speakers. Look on the back of your new speakers and see what they are. Then look at the rear of your receiver by the speaker terminals and there will be a sentence like "8 Ohm minimum per channel". If your Sony says " 8 ohms " you need to use 8 ohm speakers.
Also, are you a using low level signal ( audio out ) to drive your sub or are you using high level ( speaker line )??? I'd use low level. Good luck!!
