Warsher panel goes wacky......

I have a has been three year old Neptune that has worked flawlessly so far, All of a sudden, the control panel whent wacky and keeps beeping. It goes lights up by itself and starts beeping contantly. It keeps displaying what seems like random numbers and the lights on the spin display keep cycling.

I read on another board to check inside the back panel to see if there is any charing on the circut board and there is none.

Any help would be appreciated.

What a racket.... $159 for a visitand labor to replace a part under warantee. I guess i should be happy, the parts would have cost over $200 alone. I am in the wrong business.

What part was replaced, the whole touch panel?

  • Anonymous Jan 27, 2008

We are having the exact same problem. The Neptune (toploading) washing machine is about 3 years old. It beeps continuously while the light on the spin cycle rotates through the options. Can you tell me what part you replaced? Does the entire control panel need replaced?

We have the same problem with the washer cycling through all of it's settings. It seems to keep running just fine although the noisy beeping which can't be shut off drives you crazy. We have the extended warranty through maytag so awaiting a repair persons visit. It stops sometimes and you don't hear it cycling through and then out of the blue while not doing laundry it just starts cycling through it's settings. It also does it while you are washing clothes. Sounds like the control panel to me. We will see. I have tried the unplugging and that did not fix anything. Sometimes I just leave it unplugged when it is driving us crazy. In order to use the washer it can't be cycling through it's crazy phase when you begin because the buttons don't work during that phase. But after you start the correct cycle it appears to take off properly and finish the load.

Sounds like you possibly have a short in the touch panel unit.  Very hard to know for sure, but that is usually the signs we get when one goes out.  The problem is this touch panel is seriously expensive.  Try this, unplug the machine for around 15 minutes.  Sometimes they can hang up.  Unplugging it would cause the computer to sometimes reset itself.  If it does the same thing when plugging it back in, its that touch panel.  You cant always see any burned or scored areas to indicate a bad board.  Good luck and let me know if you need any further help.    Jim

What causes my Kenmore to buzz when dispenser door is closed?

Fridge keeps beeping or buzzing: The following is for Frigidaire models but others can be addressed similarly.

Several Frigidaire refrigerator models have an electronic control panel on the freezer door the owner can use to adjust the internal temperature, dispense ice and water and receive notification about issues such as the need to replace a water filter. The refrigerators also emit a beep for various actions and as an occasional alarm. Determining what causes the beeps necessitates some troubleshooting.
Temperature Controls ·A Frigidaire refrigerator's display panel blinks when the control panel is touched to set temperature controls. After pressing "Freezer Temp" or "Refrigerator Temp" on the keypad, press the arrow buttons within five seconds to increase or decrease the desired temperature. If you do not press the arrow buttons within five seconds after pressing "Freezer Temp" or "Refrigerator Temp" on the keypad, the refrigerator beeps to indicate the current setting will stay in place.

Door Open ·When you leave the refrigerator or freezer door open, the refrigerator beeps. Also, the "Door Ajar" indicator illuminates on the appliance's display panel. Shutting the door and pressing "Alarm Reset" stops the beeping and turns off the "Door Ajar" indicator light.
·The Frigidaire refrigerator has a control lock feature that prevents use of its control panel or dispensers when the unit is locked. When the control lock is active, a beep sounds when a keypad or dispenser is pressed. Release the control lock by pressing the "Control Lock" icon for three seconds. A beep will sound, and the icon's light will go out.
Power Reset ·A power reset is occasionally necessary if the Frigidaire refrigerator's control panel does not work normally or a reset function on the keypad does not work. A power reset involves disconnecting power to the refrigerator by unplugging its power cord from the electrical outlet, waiting 30 seconds and plugging the power cord back into the electrical outlet. When the control panel resets, a beep sounds. If the refrigerator beeps even after a power reset and the beeps' source is not known, contact Frigidaire.

Sony HCD-GT222 Hi-Fi CD and cassette deck with tuner, suddenly started to shut itself down at volumes higher than 50%, after three years of flawless operation.

It's thermal; protection is happening probably due to bad ventilation. Fuzz and dust can block air vents. These need to be vacuumed out now and then.

Unit is 3 years old (I just moved in) and is acting like a poltergeist... it's turning itself on and off and is beeping.

the control boards go wacky in them and then the things get a mind of their own with no control over them whatsoever. You can buy control boards for some of them, but they are often half or more the price of a new one...
