How do I block the sensor on ONE of my two identical DVD recorders?

I've got two identical Panasonic DVD recorders hooked up to my TV.  How can I block the sensor on ONE of  them when I use my remote?   Is there a material (rubber, metal) that I can place over the DVD's sensor area?  I've experimented with no luck.

I have a Panasonic DMR-ES30V. I've only ever recorded from what I'm watching on the TV to a DVD. I now have a VHS tape that I'd like to record to DVD. I tried starting the dvd to record...

Most Combo Recorders (VHS and DVD) will prevent you from
recording a Copyrighted VHS tape program onto DVD.
Try recording a TV program onto your VHS tape, then
transfer it to your DVD and see if your new DVD recording
will work or not.

Sounds like it doesn't update and so it tries to do it each time it is powered on. I think for the update to work, you would need to hook it up to a pc through a port on the back of the dvd recorder. check your manual on how to do it.

DMR E55 timer recording won't work

Your recorder doesn´t have a digital tuner, let alone an HD one. You can record digital programs via your TV tuner if it gives a signal out. Connect your TV to AV1 or AV2 on your recorder and program the recorder to record from the one you chose. You must program the TV separately (I don´t know if this is possible on your TV) or leave it on and on the channel you want to record.

Remote doesn't work for DVD Recorder

It is now working. The DVD is below a Panasonic TV. We blocked the tv remote sensor and the DVD remote started working. We have unblocked the tv sensor and the dvd remote is still working. I'm not sure what was wrong or how exactly we fixed it.

Connect DVD recorder to Video player/recorder- transfer VHStodisc

hook the video output from vcr to dvd input at rear, then hook output from dvd to tv input. note; you can not record protected vcr movies you can only record tv shows from sattelite to vcr or dvd recorder. its best to record straight from sattelite to dvd recorder for picture clarity.
