I have several of these little Sony cameras and had the same problem with the battery door not latching on or locking up. If you want an easy fix, just look for your camera model number on Ebay and some sellers actually sell the complete battery door. You can also buy a For Parts Only camera with the same model number and use the battery door making sure it is intact of course? I doubt you can find or buy a battery door through Sony any more, a repair shop would charge an arm and a leg for such repair and that is if they even have extra parts for a camera that old?
I fixed one of mine by cutting two small pieces of a sewing needle, yes i know it souds corny and all but it worked. What usually breaks on these camera battery doors is 2 small tiny plastic tabs that that latch on to 2 tiny tabs attached to the camera body, when the door tabs break off theres no way the door can lock and so it just hangs open. I decided to measure 2 pieces of metal, more like rods from a needle and heated the tip and pierced through the battery door matching those tabs underneath. You do have to be very patient and careful with this as you don't want to miss the angle where the original tabs use to be. I did fix my camera even though you can see 2 tiny metal rod inserted through the battery door but it held up real good and still working.
if it has become loose, the pin that holds the disp door came be put back into place. if the plastic tab that holds the pin into place broke, you will need to have a kit installed that has a metal bracket. that should be done by a tech. hope this helps.
i had a camera that did the same thing. on mine there was a little tab on the memory card cover door thing that pushed a little button. i think a piece of the little tab on mine broke off so it wasnt pushing the button so i took a little piece of paper or something and folded it really small and set it on top of the little button thing and then closed the door and that worked for me
A lot of people have this problem and I haven't been able to find a download site for anyone. Youm ight try ebay for a copy of the software and I did find this site for another person, although I don;t know if you have any interest in this;
no puedo instalar mi camara vivicam 5110 en windows xp por que no tengo los drivers que en el site de vivitar no figuran tampoco.. si alguien los tiene o sabe de donde pueod bajarlos por favor... avisenme.... [email protected]
you can display the pics you have already taken by pressing the "mode" button twice. The first time you press the button it brings you to record mode, so you can shoot home movies, the second time you press it you will see your stored pics. In order to do this, the front view finder of your camera has to be open. I hope this helps.....I am currently seeking answers to my own questions as well: I need to know how to shut off the flash on this camera as it is BLINDING!! LOL! also I would like to know where I can get the cable to download the pics to my computer.If anyone has this info to share, that would be great! Thanks!
