Question about Whirlpool RBS305PD Electric Single Oven

1 Answer

SINGLE OVEN MODEL # RBS305PDQ16

HELLO,

WE READ AN ARTICLE WHERE THE PERSON WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS WE ARE HAVING WITH OUR OVEN.  WE SELF CLEANED THE OVEN, AFTER DOING SO THE OVEN WILL NO LONGER GET WARM.  THE PREVIOUS ARTICLE SUGGESTED REPLACING THE FUSE.  MY QUESTION FOR YOU IS WHERE IS THE FUSE LOCATED AND HOW DO WE GET TO IT.

Probably refering to a thermal fuse. This fuse opens when heat is too high. Some of these ovens had a kit where you replaced the cooling fan, fuse and shimmed hinges to correct problem. You can access fuse by removing oven from wall. It will be located on back of unit. You can try replacing just fuse. It will probably be ok for bake and broil. It may happen again during clean.

A common problem when using self-clean functions.
It destroys parts.
Remove the rear panel from the oven and replace the thermal fuse that blew because of too high temperature.

GE 1978 Slef Cleaning oven JKP26002wh 3 Layers of glass in door...How do I clean between the glass in the self cleaning aluminum window mechanism?

You will have to take the door apart to get to the glass that needs to be cleaned out. I would not recommend doing a self clean on an oven that is that old.

I am having the same problem that many others are. My screen went blank and when the buttons are pushed they just beep. This sounds as if it is some sort of malfunction within the circuit board? I plan to...

It is and you are doing what you should. We know that a lot of these problems are being caused by the heat from a self-cleaning cycle rising up into the circuit board. I get a lot of these problems right after someone self-cleaned their oven, although it can fail completely months after the cleaning cycle damaged the board. So in the future try and use the self-clean cycle very sparingly and set the timer to clean for only two hours if it will allow it. My best advice is to not use the self-cleaning clycle, use aluminum foil in the oven floor, and hand clean the door and walls as you use it. Do not use oven cleaner on this as most of the cleaners will damage the self-cleaning oven liners. Change the aluminum foil when it gets dirty and never self clean with the aluminum foil in the oven. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Won't heat after self-clean

You're right... design should probably be updated. It does sound like the thermal switch as the cleaning cycle heats the oven to nearly 800 degrees which taxes the switch. If for some reason the switch went bad, only solution is to fix the switch.

You could verify the element is in place correctly, but i doubt that's your problem. If you were o read the terminals to the element with an AC voltmeter and you get 0 volts then it's definately your thermal switch, however if you read the terminals and you get 220V then the element is NG.

WARNING: 220V is nothing to play with. If you're not experienced with this kind of measurement, call on a professional repair person as electrocution a high price to pay to fix an oven.
