Question about Bosch Nexxt Premium WFMC6400UC Front Load Washer
I replaced mine without removing any of the unit. It is a bit trickier getting the inside locking spring in place, but it is possible.
Mine got torn when my mother-in-law who was visiting and had never used a front load left a towel partially out of the door and it pulled the seal into the washer and nicked it..

Pay the repair guy, even if it didn't include the part (seal) its cheap at $200. I replaced my door seal, I think the part cost me $36. In order to do the job correctly you need to remove the top, take off the front, remove the counter weight (to get room to work and not bust your knuckles). If you have an older machine the replacement seal is not a direct match. My seal won't allow the door to close completely and i have to lean on it to allow it to lock on start. I have had the seal in for about 4 months and am noticing the door closes better and I only have to lean on it a couple of times.
I replaced my seal because of the mildew problem caused by poor drain hole design. How does your seal get torn?
