SOURCE: I'm having trouble recording Disney VHS to DVD. I

I'm not sure if this is the answer, but I have the same unit and in the directions it mentions not being able to record anything from a copyrighted source. I would assume Disney products are copyrighted and might have a feature that prevents these machines from accepting the signal.

SOURCE: i got a magnavox dvd recorder and 4 head hi-fi

To record from the set-top box, you need to connect the coax out of the box to the coax in on the recorder (daisy-chain). Then connect the coax out of the recorder to the TV. The DVD/VCR channel needs to be set to Channel 3 or 4 depending on the output of the set-top box. (Check the manual for the cable box for this information.) Then press the TV/Video button if you see noise on the TV. Then set the TV to channel 3 or 4. See page 80 of the manual for setting the RF output of the DVD/VCR unit; the TV must be on to set this properly.

Then set the cable box for the channel that you want to record. If you keep the TV on, you will only be able to watch the channel that is recorded. Unless you have a second source going into the TV on another input.

If you have the video cable connected for a better picture from the DVD (composite or component video, for example), this is separate from the rest of the connections you need. (To watch the DVD, you'd change your input source.)

I hope this helps. BTW a copy of the manual is available here: http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/magnavox/mwr20v6_1.html .

SOURCE: I have surroundsound. I have dish network with hd

To get the functionality you're looking for you'll need to to take the cable running from your DVR output and connect it to the input on your DVD recorder. Next you want to connect a cable from your DVD recorder output and connect it to your TV. If this is an HD set up you want to use HD Cables for all of the connections.

From the Sky box, plug one SCART lead to your recorder and plug another to your TV. Then plug a SCART from the TV to the recorder.

You can then select the SCART connector for the sky box to record programs.

This will work after the digital switchover. The switchover is only for 'normal' tv signals from your tv aerial

LITE ON HD-A740GX ONLY HAVE DIGITAL SIGNAL HOW DO I TUNE IN CAN I TUNE IN

You must connect a digital TV box between your arial and your Liteon, so the arial cable goes into the digital box, and use a SCART cable from the digital box to the Liteon. Then record using the SCART input on the Liteon. Another SCART cable can be connected from the Liteon to your TV, so you can view what you have recorded.

I cant get dvd recorder to record ext 2

Firstly, is the scart lead plugged in fully? Does it get the sound or nothing?
Is the recorder sitched to the correct input? It may be trying to pull a signal from the TV which may not be passing through the picture from the sky box.
Also, is the scart lead fully wired? Some only work one way so try spinning it round between the recorder and sky box.

Can record Sky programmes but not view live.

You must connect up the TV to the SKY box, via Audio Visual cables too, in order to watch, recorded programs. You need to hook, up, Component, HDMI, or Composite, You select it by an EXTERNAL channel.
Connect the cable running from the wall into the "In" port on the Sky Box HD receiver. This cable brings in the signal to your receiver. Make sure the cable is securely fastened to the receiver, otherwise you might experience image and audio issues.
Attach an HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the Sky Box HDTV receiver. The HDMI is a single cable that provides both HD audio and video signals.
Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into an available HDMI port on the HDTV.
Power on the HDTV and the Sky Box HDTV receiver. Press the "HDMI" button on the TV's remote control. This will display the cable contents of the HD receiver onto the television.

I have recently bought a sky plus hd box and want to connect an external dvd recorder to it(Sony). Followed instructions but it will not pick up a signal from the hd box by the way I live on the costa del...

if you connect the dvd to the tv using scart socket 2 (av2) it should send a signal to the dvd, depending on the make/model of tv, you also may have to set the av2 output in the menu.
Alternativly, connect the sky to the dvd input and the dvd output to the tv, this should also work.May have to watch the tv with the dvd on set to av.

Ive just moved to a house with sky all ready and have not got a clue how to set the thing up. I have a 50in PS-50Q96HD Samsung HDTV Plasma. I have the sky cable and the normal tv cable, what goes were...

first of all you would need to have a Sky HD set top box.

The cables coming into the wall.. you said one was the terrestrial aerial and the other was a sky cable. In order for you to benefit from Sky HD you would need twin cable or two single cable running from your sky dish.(allows you to record a program and watch another etc.

summary:
skyHD box
two feeds coming from your dish,
there is only one place these can go as they are screw on ie F connectors. so they would screw onto input 1 and 2 on the back of the Hd box.
Run a HDMI cable from the back of the sky box from the HDMI port to one of the HDMI ports on the back of your telly. last but not least you would need to get a power cable (kettle plug) to power the thing.

In regards to your terrestrial aerial you can plug this directly into your telly or via your aerial in port on the back of the skyHD box. then you would have to run an aerial cable from the RF out 1 or 2 to the back of your telly this would allow you to record two things on your Sky HD box then switch to your built in freeview that your telly has.

Hope this has answered your questions

Cheers
