There are no specific specs for a speaker box. As long as your speaker fits, and you get a screw in every hole when securing it your ok. Just remember this... The bigger the box the more bass. ( Up to your speakers capabilty )

I have 8 alpine dvc type r 12s, should i port them or go with a sealed box.

depends what kind of car they are going in and what kind of sound you are going for.
generally speaking ported boxes are louder, if you choose this i would recommend filling box with poly-fill.
non-ported boxes get deeper bass and hit much harder. no matter what set up you choose a good quality box that does not flex is EXTREMLY IMPORTANT. you will want the wood to be at least 3/4" thick and the correct cubic feet.

I want to know how much cubic air a 15 inch cerwin vega subwoofer needs

There are too many variables to answer your question; driver model, port frequency desired, box type required-just to name a few.

I can't anwser your question right now with this info but I can tell you that in the past I have contacted several leading manufacturers tech support to get answers I never would have received from books or software that worked better that I could believe. Call and speak directly with someone in the mobile audio tech support, you will get better answers over the phone.

Hey my amp power light is on but my subs are not sounding

green light? check the connection between the amp and box, then check your low level imput wires coming off of the back of your stereo, they could be faulty.the wires inside of the box might have some how also come loose. or your speaks are shot...

What size and type of box do I use?

Generally speaking, a sealed box will be fine. Make it as big as you can, because, for reasons that are very scientific and slightly boring, this gives better bass.

With no info, a ported box would be difficult without a lot of trail and error.

I need a wiring daigram for subwoofer connection

Generally speaking most wiring set ups are the same for any sub and/or head unit.

Here is a diagram that you can refer to which has everything included, and if your just doing the sub to stereo you won't have to worry about the 4 channel amp in the middle or the speakers.

Need proper wiring details.

This is a dual 4 ohm sub. By wiring the terminals in series (one set of + to - from one side to the other) you will have an 8 ohm sub (most folks probably don't want this). By wiring in parallel (+ to + and - to - and connect the - wire to the - terminal on your amp and the + wire to the + terminal on your amp you'll have a 2 ohm sub.
