I see from the Walmart feedback on this item that there is a problem with missing instructions so further to my other answer posted I suggest you go to Walmart, find some instructions in another box and demand they copy them for you or take the item back and check the box before taking a replacement.

There are many ways to update an old bookcase. Try distressing the wood or painting it a new color (perhaps something bright); or you can try wallpapering shelves of the bookcase. Take a look at some of these sites; maybe they can give you some fresh ideas.

I suggest that you search the internet: "bookcase spiral" or "rounded bookcase. I can tell you right now that I couldn't really find ones for sale but I have seen these types of bookcases in furniture stores in the past so I know they are out there, and they are really nice too...
