I have had the Actiontec GT704WG for a few months with no problems. All of a sudden web pages started getting "web page not found" INTERNET light was out on modem. Powercycled the Actiontec GT704WG , and all lights came on. Now it is where it gets aggravating. After multiple attempts on getting the wireless to work on laptop (no changes made) I am unable to locate the home network, yes the WIRELESS light is on. I have WPA, and MAC filtering enabled, yes this all worked before the powercycle. There were no changes made anywhere on laptop nor the Actiontec GT704WG before or after the powercycle. Laptop and the SIRIUS Stelleto are still uanble to find the wireless network. Yes, the broadcast SSID is on. Please advise. I have turned the wireless off on the admin setup, save & reboot, and then turn it back on, no luck. same here. it really is frustrating.
Sounds to me as if the Actiontec GT704WG has died. If it is still under warranty, get it serviced. If it is not under warranty, You can try to find en electronic friend to take a look at it. If you do not have such a friend, Maybe someone else here can help you. But you might want to consider a new unit.

I do not have a solution to the problem. However, I am having the same problem. This morning the Actiontec GT704WG power and ethernet lights were rapidly flashing. The modem was non-functional. I could not even connect to the modem through the browser to see if I could find a problem.
The problem lasted a couple of hours. Then all of a sudden the modem started working again. I won't be able to tell if the problem recurs until I restart the modem. And if the problem does occur again, I won't be able to connect to the internet.
It sounds like a firmware issue or problem. Have you tried updating the firmware of the router? If not, download the latest firmware from actiontec website and install it to your router. Note: After successfully updating the firmware, you need to hard reset the router. Press the reset button at the back of the router for 30 second then unplug the power for 30 seconds as well then plug it back n.
HI! all your computer is connected except for one, you are connected to to the local network but cant get an internet connection, I dont see any problem with your wireless connection bcoz you are connected to the lan, check the security settings of your browser on your windows vista, go to internet option and security, lower it down to medium security, so that you can access the internet or try using other browser like firefox or google chrome.. check your firewall settings as well on your windows vista..
if you mean username and password to setup the connection with security etc you will need to go to your routers page and login with a username and password. A few of these can be found here. ActionTec isnt a very popular make unfortunatly. http://artofhacking.com/etc/passwd-actiontec.htm
Who is your ISP? I belive what you have is a modem router. If the interney light is not lit then it only mean that the actiontec is bridged and you need to use a dialer on your pc to connect to your ISP. If the internet light is lit, no need for a dialer just connect it straight to your pc and check your internet.
Hi,
you say it suddenly stopped working, if you can connect to the router via ethernet cable then try to access the router's web utility page and make sure your router is in mixed or G-only. If you can't still connect to the router through wireless then try restarting the Wireless Zero Configuration from windows. This is how it's made: Go to control panel and double-click "administrative tools", then double-click "services". You will see a list, scroll down to Wireless Zero Configuration and click "stop", you'll see a progress bar. After that click "start", you'll see another progress bar. Now try connecting to your router via wireless connection. If you still can't connect then repair the connection by right-clicking the wireless icon at the bottom right corner. Keep repairing until you connect.
Hope this works!
This is a Wireless Gateway not a router. Although the Actiontec website says that it uses NAT firewall like a router would.
If you do not get any green lights this usually means the wireless gateway is broken. Try plugging it into power but not the modem. Wait a few seconds. Are there any green lights?
If so, then the gateway is not configured correctly to work with your modem. You may have a smart modem. Call your ISP, for help.
If not, then it is probably a bad gateway. You can try to connect to the configuration web page that comes with the gateway. OR Power on the unit while holding down the Reset button for a minute. This will reset it to factory defaults.
