Question about Avaya 4610

Not able to connect to server

Avaya IP Office - Trying to connect an Avaya 4610 but keep getting the message that says Discovering 168.168.42.10 - I'm running a Software VPN in the back ground.  - Also, the Phone Manager is connected with no problem.

Have the same set up and was able to connect with the only difference being that I'm on a hardware VPN

Any relation to why this won't work?

The software vpn probably will not work.
Is the vpn tunnel up? Can you ping the IPO? what subnet is the pc?

    After further review, is the pc plugged into the IP phone? You could try to set up the phones gateway IP as the IP of the pc. So the phone is using the PC as its gateway out. Also, the phone will need to be on the same subnet as the pc, and you will need to make sure there is an IP route in the IP Office config that matches the pc.IP phones subnet.

You have to be fast. When the phone boots up, it will grab DHCP for 4 seconds. During that time you can press *.

Or, you can wait for teh phone to fully boot up and connect to then system, then do it.

Sort of. You can set the .txtx file for the items that are currently in it. BUT, once the phone gets the file, all you need to do is put the extension number in, thne the personal info is grabbed from the callsrv IP, and the user information is automatically inserted,

Unobtainable Disc when dialing a number


The phone is not registered with the IP Office. Double check the IP settings of the phone. Callsv is the IPO IP address
Fileserv is the fileserver, usually the vmail pro server.

Talk to your system admin. You have a Definity system, which is too complicated for online help. The phone isnt seeing either the license server or the Phone system. There is more than likely an incorrect IP address somewhere.
