Where are you entering it? (In the router it should be) and simply enter "change password" you will then need to enter this new P/W into your laptop / PDA / iPhone etc.

well i saw the problem u r facing
and the only soution for it is the upgradation of the firmware ....
i was facing the same one on my router and it got corrected ....
otherwise u can call the customer care no of the the routers company and they will give u the replacement

what you search isn´t there for upc at the moment.

If you sometime loose another password (wich is written on the router bottom itself ) and you got a thomson, speedtouch, Orange-, INFINITUM, DMAX or Bbox ssid with "serial" in it
you will find your password here too and don´t have to get up from the couch :-)

but !! its a good idea to find out if your internet connection has flatrate before using it.
there are some very crazy ISP´s what do an autologin just away from the router, which is used, and you can see `your user data on the ISP´s website which will tell you about your contract and hopefully an flatrate ..
otherwise you know what you are, and something will happen anyway from high bill receivements...
ahm, whatismyipaddress.com will tell you your ISP if have forgotten, which it was.

so now thats it, be kind or your karma will stop being nice to you ;-)

for the SSID and password for your Router you need to contact your Internet Service Provider in order for them to give you those info.

Assuming you haven't changed your modem's settings...

  1. Access the modem by typing http://192.168.100.1 in your browser.
  2. Enter the default username admin and password motorola
  3. On the left frame, click Wireless
  4. Click on the Security tab
  5. Under the tab, click Advanced
  6. Untick Disable ESSID Broadcast

Grandkids should see SSID on their computer if it is being broadcast by your modem ( you probably have modem/ router) if they don't see SSID , your modem may have broadcast SSID set to off. If they can see it, have them enter your password. Passwords are case sensative .

Forgot password how do i change it
Turn over router and check in the bottom default access IP address and then type that IP address in to your browser. Then it shall ask you for ID and password. Enter `Admin` or `admin` as ID and `Password` or `password` as password. You will see a web based setup opened in front of you. Go to the Wireless Lan settings and then you will SSID so change the SSID and this would be your network`s name. Then go to subsection security and select WPA2-PSK or simple WPA-PSK then enter your desired network key. Once done with all these things the click apply and reboot if prompted.

Where is my ssid number
If your wireless Access Point or Router is configured to broadcast SSID, your tablet should see the SSID provided Wireless connection is turned On.

1) First, turn on the Wireless adapter on your tablet. You will see wireless symbol under settings in most tablets
2) If there is option to search for wireless network, turn it on, otherwise, the tablet will automatically search for available Wireless network.
3) The SSID will be displayed.

WHERE TO LOOK FOR MY SSID NUMBER
Open an Internet Explorer and type 192.168.1.1 on the address bar.
It will prompt for user name and password.
If it is Linksys or Dlink leave username blank and give password as admin.

In the setup page go to wireless settings.
There you will find SSID.

Also check wireless security, if it is enabled note the key.
Now go to your computer and scan for SSID.
Enter the network key if it prompts.

SSID is the name of the wireless network that is boardcasting.
you will see this when you search for wireless networks. it may show up as netgear as the SSID.
the password is going to be the security pin.

I want to connect to a xbox 360 live but it asks me for a ssid a wpa and wep number where do i get those numbers from
SSID, WPA and WEP are things used to identify and access an wireless network/router.

SSID is the name of the wireless network you want to connect to.
WPA and WEP are forms of encryption/security for the wireless network. Basically it's the password to get onto the wireless network.

Most routers broadcast the SSID information, so you should be able to select it from a list on your Xbox (Scan for Networks option). If not you can also manually enter it.

The WPA/WEP you'll have to know and enter manually. If you forgot it, you can find it in your router's settings. Here's a guide to finding/accessing the password; all you need is access to a computer that is already on the wireless network.

And just in case, here's an official guide from Microsoft for troubleshooting wireless network problems.

Hope you get it sorted out!
(Personal opinion: Wireless is a pain; just use an wired ethernet connection)

Hi this is not a problem any more for you

  1. the password and SSID default is not important any more
  2. lets we make it manually
  3. open one explore and erase the address bar htt://xxxxx
  4. need to be blank the address bar and type (router)nad press enter
  5. belkin setup page will be open and you can make all configuration needed for you new SSID and Password
  6. left side under the Logo Belkin you will see a the menu for setup
  7. go to channel and SSID click and if the router ask you for some password just click Submit and the next page will be open
  8. for default SSID is Belkin XXXX now erase all and type your new SSID one name only no numbers and click in to apply changes
  9. after that go to left side again and next to channel and SSID line there is a Security click again and if ask you a password remember just click on to submit(no password needed)
  10. Ok now you are in security mode click the security mode and change to 64bitwep or WEP only after that will appear one area were you need to input your new password 10 numbers and click apply changes.
  11. Next disable wife protect setup and firewall in to your router .
Ok your new SSID and Password is setting just look for your wireless signal and be connected

any problems just ask me for a remote your PC.

Looks you havent configure your router. To get SSID and security key you have to configure it on your router.

You have to manually assign SSID on your Wireless Settings and Select proper security like WPA or WPA2 and assign preshare key ( security key). After assigning when you search for SSID on your Laptop or wireless computer it will you SSID you configured on your Router if you click on the SSID to connect it will ask you security key, supply the preshared key you configured on router.

If you are very new to router you might need to refer manual
