I have searched and searched until I am getting so annoyed. When using my KVM it has an on screen display telling you what "box" you are on and supposedly you can name these box's whatever you want. But I would like to shut the on screen display off because it is annoying. Also when you first use the kvm it asks for a password to which is the default all 0's how do I change this.
Could someone point me to a user manual for this thing?
I had the same problem but then i remembered what my 2port kvm was like and you can hit scroll lock 2x then press the up and down arrow key to change ports and this is the same way and to get rid of the annoying scrren on top that tells you which port just hit escape, and to get the menu scroll lock twice and space bar.

Pixel faults are not repairable. It it do not annoy too much, let it be there. In most cases, this should be a manufacturing defect.
If you're sound in electronics, and wish to get more details,
check this link.http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Selecting the view option, either to Mosaic
/ Time slide, can be selected by the drop-down list, at the top left
of the display window, will make surf easy. You can also do a search, by type in the brand name/model
number/IC used, in the search box at the top right of the display window. Defective screen shots to pixel faults and reasons are given in details.
i would think that the problem is one of your fittings has become loose as you have signal dissconnect and try all your fittings to make sure no wires are touching if that is not successfull see if your neighbour got any work done while you had it plugged out
search for WIN 7 & KVM switch issues... you will find thousand of hits, because WIN 7 has one unique feature where it disables internal and external ports if these are not in use.
In a KVM solution setup this would mean, while you are connected everything is fine, now when you switch over to your (Lets say) WIN XP and work for 30 minutes on it... and then switch back, WIN 7 might have already scanned and seen that the USB port where the KVM cable comes in is IDLE... so it disconnected it... you cannot get it back until you reboot your WIN 7 system. Its not the KVM solution is one of those Microsoft wonder weapons that breaks what has worked for 20 years

Are you referring to a problem with a Compaq (242697-001) 8-port KVM Switch or on your display (projector?)?
If it is a display problem, start your PC in Safe Mode and go to your Display Properties. In the Settings tab, lower down your screen resolution and color quality. In the Advanced button, Monitor tab, lower down your Screen refresh rates.
Reboot. Do the same and increase settings slowly (by increments) till you get the "out of frequency" message again. Pressing escape would revert you back to the last setting that worked fine.
Hope this be of some help to you, otherwise pls post back with a more detailed description.
