I'm having the same problem with my DSC-W1 camera. I dropped my camera and the battery door latches broke.
I found a replacement door on Ebay for $9.95
I followed the instructions in the description and easily removed the broken door from my camera. Now i'm just waiting on the new door to arrive so I could slide the new door in.
I hope this was helpful.
Here's the seller I bought the door from. Hopefully the seller has more doors. =) :

The 4 latches that the battery door locks onto is broke, you will need a different back cover and front cover.

Aparently you have to use sony batteries with a sony charger. I have the same problem and have been trying different batteries because I thought what's the difference with batteries as long as they are rechargeable? I spoke with a guy at the sony store and he told me to use sony batteries with the sony charger I have. Don't know if he's talking BS or not but I'll give it a shot and see if it will hold a longer battery life. When I bought the camera it was great but now it dies really fast! I'll let you know how things turn out! Until then, if anybody else has a suggestion let us know so we can enjoy our H1's!

sonyfsd is right.
In the UK the process was very painless for me a couple of months ago (Dec 2009). Using their online fault-reporting service, I was told to use the words "Known Fault" in the description of the problem. Freepost label and free return meant no charge to me whatsoever.
Only problem was Parcel Force who left the repaired camera, unsigned for, outside my house all day long. Anyone could have stolen it.
