Use Citric Acid.

  1. Dissolve about one tablespoon of citric acid in the water reservoir.
  2. Fill the boiler completely. Open the steam valve and start a hot water cycle until water comes out the steam vent. Stop the hot water cycle, close the vent.
  3. Let the boiler heat up about 5 minutes. Then turn off the power.
  4. Let the acid solution work for about 1/2 hour.
  5. Pull a 30 second shot to change the water in the boiler.
  6. Repeat flushing cycles (steps 3, 4, & 5) until the water looks clear. Refill the reservoir with water and acid as needed.
  7. Wash out the water reservoir.
  8. Pull 5 or shots to get the acidic water out of the boiler. Run a hot water cycle to clean the acidic water out of the steam vent.
  9. Let the unit come to temperature and look for leaks.
  10. Make some coffee and look for leaks.
  11. Froth some milk and look for leaks.

SOURCE: leaking steam valve rancilio miss audrey

you should take out the knob first, than you try to disasembke the SHAFT of valve from the valve body, in this types(small espresso coffe machines) usualy producer use conical valve, without seals she close metal to metal, when you get out the SHAFT you will see one line on the conical end. for repairing it will be enough to visit one metal vorkery where they will take a small amount of brass from end and polish it. then you put it back and work again with your machine.

ps: notice you only polish the SHAFT , dont let them to short the more than 0.5 mm

SOURCE: where is the reset button on the rancilio audrey?

Once you get the top off, there are 2 thermostats on the top of the boiler. Your looking for the thermostat that is on the front of the boiler with the red button . Push the red button. If that didn't work check the ohms reading on the element. It should read 12 - 16 ohms. If it doesn't replace the element. Also did you try to turn on the steam button? Sometimes the thermostat with the red dot on it goes bad. If it will steam just replace the brew thermostat.

SOURCE: My Rancilio Silvia developed a terrible burning

Sounds like the machine needs to be descaled and the boiler and element needs to be checked.
Was the machine left on for a long time?
If yes then the element needs to be replaced.

Rancilio coffee machine .no water coming out of the group head . steam coming of the group head

Hi Ewah,

If you are getting steam from the group and no water when you turn on the water button - then you may have a group blockage.

The fix depends on the type of machine you have.
If it is a commercial type - then call in a qualified coffee technician.
If it is a domestic type like rancilio sylvia, the you could try to descale - maybe too late, but worth a go.JURA descaling tablets
If when descaling, no water is coming from the group try leaving the steam tap open when asking for water. That way you may get the descaler liquid moving inside the boiler and it may clear the solenoid valve blockage.
If no joy with that you may need to replace solenoid valve.
230V 9W PARKER SOLENOID
Domestic machines need regular descaling to avoid group blockages.

What is wrong with my silvia? No coffee or water, but steam ok. Loud burring noise

Hi There,
Your coffee group is blocked, with lime or coffee oils.

Try descaling 1st Pulycaf coffee machine descaler . You will find descaler and cleaner in this rancilio silvia kit. Rancilio Silvia gasket kit . Descaling should be done every 3 months or so.

If the descaler does not work - you may have to remove the solenoid valve and descale that - not an easy fix. Takes 20 min.

I was just given a rancilio audrey and a matching rancilio grinder. However no water is coming through the group heaed, just steam. I can't make coffee! The pump hums quietly and sounds like it is running...

Remove the shower screen and screw from the head, make sure screen is clean and run head without screen in place, if you get a good flow, problem on screen, if not then problem is on the inside of the machine between top of the head and pump. You can try descaling the machine.

Steam blowing out of group head

Were you using cleancaf to descale? If so, it is not a strong enough descaler. Use Dezcal. or a Dezcal cleancaf mixture. The two work great together.

Make sure you get some descaler in the solenoid area by turning on and off the coffee button.

Hope it works out for you.
