Question about RCA P52939 52" Rear Projection Television

Open Question

Left home with the home theater playing and return to it blanked out. I hear a small crackingling when i turn it on with the remote and thats all i get.( rca guideplus gemstar gold 62")

The only problem i was experiencing was the color or picture was somewhat vague, however, I left home with the tv on and returned later to find it completely dark with no sound. When I unplugged an re-plugged,mashed the power button on the remote, i heard a small almost inaudable light crackingly sound and that it.Previously, it seemed to emit a low deep hard to hear bass spit second humm like it does when powering on.

SOURCE: no picture, no sound, power light steady green

First: Check the power outlet. Check it with a good lamp so you know you are getting power to the set.
Secondly: Check the power cord. Wiggle it around the molded ends to make sure it is not open inside the molded portion of the plugs.

Thirdly: If you know for sure the set is getting power and still no indication at all (you should be getting some little light on the front panel; standby indication) then there may be a fuse on the back panel or just inside the back cover (you will have to remove it; after unplugging the power cord) that needs replaced.

Fourthly: After all these checks if you are getting nothing, you may have some failure inside that is very serious. Normally we do not recommend serious repairs to a set over 4 years of age. This is because the set is likely to develop some other problem soon after the repair is made; further, the repairs are getting more expensive day by day while the price of new sets is coming down dramatically. Lastly, the new sets have better picture, longer lasting circuits and better features.

Hope this is a good solution for you.

thanks for your questions.

When a movie is playing, you can hear all sounds except the actors voices....they are mumbled.

The voices are probably coming out on one of the channels that has a bad speaker, bad wire, loose connector, or bad output. If you have the audio set to 5.1 output, change it to two-channel stereo output. The voices should return to normal.

I have a 46 panasonic veska tv and I can not connect my vizio sound bar to it. I hear static but no sound

  1. Check the power. Don't be embarrassed if your problem is as simple as an unplugged power cord. It's better that you should discover this than pay a repair technician to come out to your house and find out.
  2. Isolate the problem. The main troubles that will crop up with a TV set are either no picture, no sound or both.
  3. Check the input setting on your remote control. If you have other devices connected to the TV, such as a video game system, those devices must be used with a different input setting than the input you use for watching programs or movies on a DVD or Blu-Ray player. Chances are, the kids were playing a game and forgot to turn the input back the way it was.
  4. Press the Input button on your remote control to return to the setting you wish to use. For example, the cable box might be connected to Input 1 and your DVD player might be connected to Input 2. Newer television sets have at least 3 inputs.
  5. Check the coaxial connection from your cable or satellite receiver to the television. The cable should be attached securely by twisting the round lock nut clockwise. Also check the power connections for the satellite or cable receiver. If either is unplugged, you won't receive a programming signal on the TV.
  6. Make sure the video cable is securely attached to the TV jack if you have a home theater system. The video cable runs from the Video Out jack on your home theater receiver to the Video In jack on the back of your TV.
  7. Check your receiver setting. Home theater receivers manage several components, so if you have the receiver set to operate the CD player but you are trying to watch a movie on your Blu-Ray player, you'll need to change the selection to Blu-Ray to watch the movie on your TV.
  8. Check the TV speakers to see whether they have been muted by accident. Press the volume button on your remote control or go to the Menu section and scroll down until you reach TV Speakers. Toggle left or right to turn the speakers on or off.
  9. Press the speaker button on your receiver to make sure your external home theater speakers are activated. Many home theater systems use external for their superior audio rather than the speakers inside a television.

I have the same problem. The only time that I can get it to work is whenever I turn on the cable box the home theater system turns on too. When I use the DVR it will turn it on too and want to play the CD/DVD. I have a Comcast Motorola DCH3416 DVR box.

Can not get 3 speakers on my samsung home theater to work!

There are a few settings that will just give you a stereo output. The first one is with the Pro Logic II. If you press the PLII Mode button on the remote it will go through a series of settings from MUSIC ➞ CINEMA ➞ PRO LOGIC ➞ MATRIX ➞STEREO ➞ MUSIC. Pro Logic setting will only produce sound from the front speakers and Stereo from the front speakers and the sub. Put it on Matrix for 5.1 surround sound.
Also for speaker settings follow the instructions below.
Signal outputs and frequency responses from the speakers will automatically be adjusted according to your speaker configuration and whether certain speakers are used or not.
In Stop mode, press the MENU button.
Press the Cursor down button to move to Audio and then press the ENTER button.
In the SPEAKER SETUP, press the ENTER button again.
Press the Cursor button to move to the desired speaker and then press the ENTER button.
For C, SL, and SR, each time the button is pressed, the mode switches alternately as follows : SMALL ➞ NONE.
For L and R, the mode is set to SMALL.
SMALL : Select this when using the speakers.
NONE : Select this when no speaker is connected.
Press the RETURN button to return to the previous level.
Press the EXIT button to exit the setup screen.
It also seems that with this system, if you are on 5.1 surround but your music source is only in stereo, you will only hear stereo.
