Question about HP Compaq Evo n610c Notebook

Compaq laptop Evo N410c Battery charging

I bought this laptop second hand and was told tht the battery needed replacing.   Bought a new battery and fitted it but there seems to be a charging problem combined with  starting problem.  On plugging into the mains the battery warning light often does not come on to indicate that the machine is ready to be powered up   After unplugging and replugging the light comes on after five seconds and the machine is ready to use.   The light indicates that the machine is charging but at no time can I get a full battery.  The best I can get is 12% and that figure fluctuates down to 9%.   At no time will the mnachine fire up just on the battery.   Potential problems...is the battery charger working (properly),  do I have a duff battery?   Can you help?

Did what you said.   The AC adapter is O.K.   Tha battery will not charge and the machine will not start on battery.   I checked the drivers and sought an update from Microsoft but it is their latest driver.   The HP website was checked but I could see no drivers for "HP battery check"   I went through all the downloads looking for sp32299.exe but could not find it.   Can you tell me where to get this exe file?

Hi

First remove the battery and run only on the adapter... If it works fine then there is no problem with adapter...... Charge the battery continuously for 4 hours without seeing the percentage of charging and remove the adapter..... If the laptop runs on battery for 45 mins then it might be the problem with drivers..... Go to device manager and reinstall the drivers if it is less than 45 mins.... Reinstall the drivers either ways...... If still the problem persists.... Go to HP.com and and select software and driver downloads and give the product number.... select the OS... Select HP battery check.... Download the file (sp32299.exe) and click save.... Save file onto the desktop and close the site..... Run the exe file.... If it passes the battery is fine... If fails replace the battery....

The steps might be longer..... But i can assure that it will work

If you do not wind the watch, and if it is electronic it obviously has a battery. Very possible even with a new watch the battery has run out. This is especially if the watch was sitting for about a year in their inventory before you bought it.

I am not sure if your watch has a kinetic type movement where it charges the watch, or it is purely an electro-mechanical type movement. I did read it has a quartz referenced movement for the mechanical balance wheel. This would certainly involved a battery. If changing the battery is not the fix you would have to send the watch for service.

Hi I bought a second hand Schwinn AL1020 a year ago. It seemed quite zippy. Now it is very slow and needs to be charged every night for a 16 km round trip and seems to be dying further away from home...

Since you bought it second hand and then used it for another year, it is very likely that the battery is getting closer to the end of its days, as it should. You could order a new one from Currie, they manufacture the batteries (and I think also the bike).

Computer was charging all night. Someone tripped over cord and pulled cord out of computer. Computer won't turn on. Computer did not fall.

There's two way on how we can turn our laptop on:
1. With the battery
2. Without the battery using the AC adapter or Power cord

Try the above options to isolate your issue.

- If number 2 option works then that means that there's something wrong with your battery.

Solution:
1. You can buy a generic laptop battery which is less expensive than the original battery. (Generic Laptop battery means different brand like the one made in china that fits your laptop.)
2. Buy a refurbished battery (Second hand battery)
3. Go back to the store where you bought or call their customer service if your still under warranty (Battery warranty for most laptop company is 90 days )
4. Buy a new one (Recommended if your out of warranty).

We're done with the lighter side of the issue our bigger problem is if your laptop wont turn on using the 2 option above.

This means that there's something wrong with the Laptop,

Solution:
1. If your still under warranty you can go back to the store where you bought for repair or call their customer service
2. If your out of warranty then you need to look for local tech.

Had a new battery from Dell,it seems to charge ,but only to 67%. Got this laptop from a good friend who had ordered the battrey from Dell. (he`s reliable, but I figured he may have made a mistake...

I have never heard of the dell BIOS being able to reject a non Dell battery. How does the laptop work when you plug it in? Normally. If you just bought this battery, I would suggest that you return it from where you bought it. The battery sounds defective, like it won't hold a 100% charge more than once? I have had Dell laptops and used compatible batteries on them. Return this battery, get a refund and look for an OEM compatible on Ebay.

See the link below for an ebay page with several battery options, many of them with at leat 1 year warranty. If Deal Extreme does not back it's products, I guess it's not deal.

As far as the BIOS, I again have never heard of that. You can look at your power options at Start, Settings, Control Panel, Power options. This will set power usage for when the laptop is plugged in or when the laptop is on battery.

This situation really appears to be a defective product.

I hope this is helpful, if I can give you any further clarification, please let me know.

Battery led is blinking, this usually means your battery is faulty. Try replacing the battery with a new or tested second hand one.

Hope this helps
