Acer Travelmate 2300 and wireless

I reinstalled Windows XP Pro SP2 and installed all the drivers including the Wireless drivers. The wireless connection does not find the Wireless network that is working just fine with another laptop and a Desktop with a Wireless NIC. Some of the things I have done:

1. Uninstalled and reinstalled the Wireless Network Card
2. Used few different drivers.
3. Installed and then uninstalled SP3 for XP
4. There are no manual Switch to turn the Wireless off and on
5. Checked through Device Manager and Properties, the Wireless
card is just working fine.

Please help

Hold down the FN key and as your holding down that key, press the F4 key up on top and see if that activates the wireless card.

Uninstalled all the driver you have right now

Try finding the model # of your wireless card and find the specific driver for it, It would resolve the problem

There will be a button to start up or power on the wireless device. so switch it on then it will start detecting the wireless hardware for driver installation.

Acer 2300 travelmate laptop

Try this:

  1. Press Windows Button & Pause/Break to go to the System Properties (or right click on My Computer and choose Properties, but the other way is more fun.)
  2. Choose Device Manager.
  3. Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers section
  4. Right click and choose Properties of one that says something about PCI bridge (I forget the exact name and after you fix the problem, this item goes away. If you aren't sure, you try step 5 and 6 on all of the USB items in that list.)
  5. Click on the Driver Tab (it's kinda slow loading).
  6. If the driver information on top says "Not found" or "Not installed" then click Update Driver... and let it look for the driver itself (I didn't need the XP CD but that might be because I keep a copy of it on my hard drive just incase. You might need it, I don't know.)
  7. After it finds the driver, click Okay and USB should start working immediately - no reboots needed!
