Clear your Yahoo Messenger cache

1. In the notification area located next to the clock at the bottom-right corner of your screen, right-click the Yahoo Messenger smiley icon, then select Exit.
   
   • Note: Windows 7 and Windows 8 users may have their "Messenger smiley" icon hidden in the notification area; if so, move your cursor over the up arrow in the notification area to display the hidden icons, right-click the Messenger smiley icon, then select Exit.
2. On your keyboard, press the key combination Windows + R.
3. Type cmdand press Enter.
4. Copy one line at a time from the list of command prompts below, then right-click within the Command Prompt window to paste the command.
   
   • After pasting each command, press Enter on your keyboard.

Note: If you receive the "The system cannot find the file specified," continue with the next command. These errors are harmless.

1. Click the X button to close the Command Prompt.

If you get an "access is denied" error follow this process: Substitute this for step 3 above - Start ' Programs (or All Programs) ' Accessories.Make sure to right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator, and then continue with step 4 above.

Your not able to log onto messenger but your able to go to your yahoo mail and log in and check it? I would just try going and downloading and reinstalling messenger if that helps. If its something on yahoos side.

Run ssytem restore to a week ago and it will be off your system.

Not a permanent solution. Rebooted the computer and I was able to connect. Tried calling again later and same problem occurred (No voice detected). Re-booted again and it cleared up. Haven't tried calling again yet. Never had this problem with messenger 8.

sould be wiper moter is failing or plastic clips are wearing out.

well for now the only solution i can think about is updating your internet explorer to the newer version

Do yourself a favor and get rid of messenger 9, Yahoo still does not have it working correctly!! Do the following >>

You need to uninstall messenger Completely so you can get rid of the corrupted file that is causing your problem and get a clean install.

When you uninstall not all of the yahoo messenger files are deleted from your Program Files, so if the problem you are having is caused by a corrupted file then the problem will still be there when you install it again.

So what you need to do is uninstall messenger then go to your Program files and delete the yahoo folder. This will get rid of all remaining files especially the corrupted ones.

To uninstall you need to click on the Start button(the one on your task bar) then go to Control Panel then to Add/Remove Programs, find yahoo messenger in the list and click on it then on uninstall.<< this is for XP

To uninstall in Vista click on start then Control Panel then on Uninstall a Program in the new window find yahoo messenger click it to uninstall it.

To find and delete the Yahoo folder click on the START button in your task bar then on My Computer then C: drive then Program Files then right click on the Yahoo folder and Delete it. It's a good idea to reboot your PC now to make sure it's all gone out of your system.

I do recommend you get the 8.1.0.421 version as it is the most stable a bug free version of messenger !!

When you download it just save it to your desktop and then run the installer from there.

If you have XP just double click on it to start the install.


To install messenger on Vista you need to download messenger to your desktop. Then Right click on the installer and then click on "Run as Administrator" to get it to install correctly.


No, doing this will not make you lose your contacts and Yes if you do do this with out saving your archived files folder you will lose older messages.

If you'd like to save your archives, follow the instructions below to save them:

1. Click the "Start" menu and select "Run." If you do not see the Run command, then select Start > All Programs > Accessories > Run.
2. Type in "%ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\Messenger\" and press Enter.
3. Right-click the "Profiles" folder and select "Copy."
4. Click the "Start" menu and select "Run" again.
5. Type in "%UserProfile%\Desktop\" and press Enter.
6. Click the "Edit" menu and select "Paste."

Once you've downloaded the new version of Yahoo! Messenger, you can paste the "Profiles" folder back to:

C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\

hi it is not possible to send or recieve images using webcam,only you can video chat with your webcam
yahoo messenger definitely allows webcam chat .

the user with whom you are chatting must have webcam if you wanna see that person on your screen........!
