is the problem the fabric is not moving forward but staying in one spot? which would mean the feeddogs need to be checked to see what position there in --up for sewing---down for darning or the thread is not feeding into the machine?
If you have switched to "UP" position and turned handwheel one full revolution with no result it may be that 1. There is lint under the needleplate preventing it from rising fully....clean it out !! 2. There is damage to the linkage and will need to go in for visual appraisal by technician....ask for a quote on repair before they do anything.
