If it is just a matter of the power switch, that is an easy part to replace. It might also be that one of the leads to the switch has come loose (some shredders just use the slip-on connectors) and needs to be put back on. Also, if the wires are attached to the switch, have you tried touching the wires from the switch and seeing if the shredder will work then. You can use a short piece of insulated wire to act as a jumper cable to touch the two wires going to the switch. If this doesn't allow the shredder to operate (you need to have something pressing down on the safety switch), then you need a new shredder.

No one will probably ever read this, but, if it is the power swt , it is not only hard to find a replacement but, is soldered to the pcb board....so if ya can find the swt and have skills, you've got it made....been searching for the swt for 11 years now with no success....had to finally modify a 6 pin on/off/on toggle swt by cutting the pins and soldering it into the board...then to modify the hole to accommodate the square swt into the roundist hole in the panel.....so, good luck with that....

I have a tv set which doesnt work. when power on pilot light turns red then pressing the secondary power the pilot light turns green then turns red color immediately. it has a relay

Sounds like a power supply or switch problem.
Some switches have a brief contact made when turning on so this may be faulty or it could be the switch mode transistor that is borked.

Can't turn on power to desktop

Simple power hack, to do this, kind of like hot wiring your computer.

Turn the power on at the wall, Flick the switch on the back of the computer (if there is one on the back) to the on position, make sure the cable is plugged in, and turn the power off at the wall, hold the power switch on the front and turn the power on at the wall.

This will cause the power to jump across the switch, causing the computer so sound a bit like a motorbike being started.

The power will come on it will turn over click and go off. After this turn the switch of at the back of the computer, and turn it back on, and the computer will boot up.

The first bit of this is just charging the capacitors in the power supply, the second bit is turning your computer on.

Power switch not working properly it will turn on for about 5 seconds the turn off no pressure build up

I know this sounds too easy, but it sounds like a faulty power switch. Being a Craftsman, parts are no problem. I'd replace the switch.

Dell tower desktop Dimension 5100. Tower makes whistling sound.

sounds like it could be a bearing in your hard drive. is this problem constant? If so, I would open up the tower and disconnect the hard drive and then power up the tower again. if the sound goes away--you need to get a new hard drive. If not, you could have some dust bunnies in your cooling fan.

Power head has power but motor won't run

Circuit brealer switch may be bad, but the fact that Rainbow nozzle made this strange sound makes me think that it may have happened because there is something wrong with the motor.

While unplugged - remove the brush and belt. Try turning brush ends - see if they yurn easily... Try turning the motor shaft - see if it turns and if it does - if it turns smoothly and if makes any strange sounds...

To really test the motor you can just bypass the circuit breaker switch.
