Clean and tighten all connections. Get a can of spray tuner and contact cleaner from Radio Shack to clean the volume and tone controls if you have access to the body of those controls. Some disassembly required. If this doesn't help, suspect a bad variable resistor in the amplifier circuit.

Two of my speakers are not working -no sound

If they are the rear surround speakers, they will not produce sound at all times, check this with a surround sound movie that will engage the speakers. Check the settings on the reciever to be sure you are in the correct surround sound mode, and check the movie menu to be sure you are playing in correct format. Also check that wires are correctly installed, observing polarity, under terminals at both the speakers and at the reciever. I hope this is useful, but not being onsite these are just a few troubleshooting tips to narrow the problem.

I have this receiver hooked up to a Vizio LED tv and a Vizio Blue Ray using HDMI cables. The surround sound works from the speakers while watching a dvd (HDMI -1 connection) but I have no surround sound...

AV cables don't pass surround sound through, they are pretty much just left and right stereo. You need to turn pro logic on on the reciever to "pretend" to play surround. The better option of course would be to use a digital signal like another HDMI cable or digital optical audio from the cable box, if thats what your using.

Problem with sp cable (yamaha)

The speaker cables are the ones that clamp or tighen down on the back of the reciever. All the spkr wires have to have the positive and negative leads correct. Also not aven one little strand of wire can be touching another conductor or you will have this problem. Make sure all leads are correctly ran and hooked up positive to positive and negative to negative from the back of the reciever all the way to the speakers. This should solv your problem.

Surround Sound system ''popping'' through speakers

if you have left the stereo on for long periods of time heat builds up in the electronic circuts and it starts buzzing and popping through the speakers. What I would do is turn it off and let it cool down for a couple hours and it should be fine for a whole or just buy a new surround system.

How to connect dvd player to AV reciever

S-Video is a media type that only carries video. Unfortunately the LG unit was designed only to be a self contained surround sound unit. There are only video outputs to the television on this unit. Because of the unit having surround sound capabilities, LG felt that their wasn't a need for audio output. You would need to buy a new DVD player to allow audio from the DVD to your new Yamaha unit. Good Luck!

Reciever only allows 2 channels(speakers) at a time.

I had this problem too. Finally, after using the MCACC setup and making sure all the speakers worked, I found I had to set the source to FM, TV or whatever from the remote control and set the mode to advanced surround sound using the front panal button on the upper right. Had to fool with them a lot. Good luck.
