The yellow light between the X and the arrow is blinking and the printer won't print. I have within the last few days changed both colour and black cartridges so cannot beliueve that they need changing. Have switched off electricity to printer and re-booted computer but did not make any difference. There is no paper jam and neither the printer nor the computer are giving me error mesages. The printer printed 1 sheet (normally and without marks indicating that the ink was running low) then refused to do anything else. Am afraid cannot find the printer manual so do not know what the problem is or how to solve it. Can you help?

Re: HP 5650 deskjet printer
Did you or one of your users have a paper jam recently and force the jam out of the printer? Because we've had a few 5650's do this after a jam. About 66% of the time this fixed it...
Removing the ink, unplugging the printer, moving the print head to the half way point, and starting the printer. If it resets at that point and lets you put the ink in, your usually gold. If it just stops and blinks again your not.
That said, I'm actually taking one apart that wasn't fixable this way right now. I think the problem may be something related to not recognizing if the cover is up/down, but still can't see why it happens or how that it is effected by the jam.
Is your printer lid all the way down? I had this issue frequently, and I found that the cover wasn't closing all the way, after I changed the ink cartridge. Once I got it closing properly, it worked fine

Remove one cartridge and close the access door. If the cartridge light goes off, the bad cartridge has been removed. If the light continues to blink, remove the other cartridge and reinstall the first one. If the light goes off, the cartridge in the printer is the good one.
I also started having problems with my HP 870Cse when I began using refilled cartridges and had ink leakage (cartridge contacts corrupted). Check for this problem. If so, remove cartridges and gently clean the spillage. Then try using HP brand cartridges and see if this doesn't remedy the problem.
well..assuming that the text is the same on all, this might be a settings issue, with the print spooler. That's in the set up of the printer, under properties..look into that, and perhaps you'll want to spool the whole job, instead of printing immediately?
print spooler memory is finite, so the longer jobs will take longer.
