Lost remote Remote for Minitek 1600 DVD player. Can I just buy a misc. remote from an electronics store?

If the new remote is a Mintek factory remote, there is nothing to program. Just install batteries correctly and go.

You can typically get a universal remote control to work with these units at any electronics department or big name electronics store. I got mine at the electronics department at the big store (W-mart) for example. If you want a Sansui remote, you can google the model number and find about a dozen or more companies that sell replacement remotes and also on Ebay. Personally, I'd buy the $20 universal model at the electronics store! Good luck!

If you don't already have one go to an electronics store or a store like walmart and buy a universal remote control. It will come with a list of all the devices it supports and the codes you have to enter to program the remote. Just find the brand for your device and follow the instructions to enter the code and the remote should work with your dvd player after that.

Mintek Replacement Remote Controls

An universal remote will work, but the codes may not be available. That can be a complication as you need to go through the remote programming procedure manually.

Better to buy the original replacement.

20839 is the DirecTV & Access HD universal remote code for Mintek, Shinsonic, & US Logic. None of which brands are listed in my Yamaha RAV283 remote code list (uses 4-digit codes).

20717 is also listed for Mintek by DirecTV. Other brands with the same code on DirecTV remote are: Apex, Blaupunkt, GE, Greenhill, Initial, KLH, Nesa, & RCA.

Of those brands, only Apex & RCA are listed in my Yamaha remote's list. I tried all of the codes for those 2 brands under types DVD, DVD Recorder, DVD/VCR, & TV/DVD. None worked. It appears to me that only those 3 brands for 20839 share the same remote code settings. If your remote doesn't support any of those 3, I doubt you will be able to use that particular remote with the Mintek DVD-1600.
