My TomTomHome software refuses to recognise my TomTom ONE XL sat nav. The sat nav says its connected to the PC and my PC is recognising the device as a removable device, however the software insists nothing is connected. I am running Windows Vista.

When you connect your TomTom (using the TomTom HOME application on your computer) ... and you sign in to your TomTom account, it will automatically do a scan/search to see if there's any update(s) for your TomTom device.
If you see the an update (available) for your Navigation software, select it and proceed to download and install it. MapShare updates are also identified and can be selected, downloaded and installed (free).
If you're asking whether you can update the map free ... the answer is NO ... not from the TomTom website. You'll have to buy a map update (subscription) and download the new version of the map and install it.
I have just purchased a Tomtom GO 750 Live. Tomtom home 2.7 does not run on Windows 7 ultimate (32 bit). When I try to open up my Tomtomhome 2.7, I get this: TomTomHomeRuntime, exefailed with error 0: Process failed to start up correctly.
when you connect tomtom to your pc you can see what files there are on tomtom.
in the files radar cameras you can see for what countries they are in your device.
also in some countries radarcamera locations are send over rds signals.and tom will warn you near these places.
try downloading tom tom home to your computer and use your dock or cable to connect it to your computer, switch on your tomtom and allow it to connect to your computer and updates should automatically happen, this should fix it, good luck
I presume that you are using the docking unit, so plug it into a usb with the tomtom turned off, then when you turn it on it should boot up the tomtom home prog.
If that doesn't work, remove any existing tomtom home prog from your PC and try again.
Download tomtom home from your CD or from the website.
If you have aquired the unit second hand it may be blocked due to security reasons.
The only way to sort it then is to mail TomTom and give them your serial number and an explanation !
