I put a game in my xbox 360 and when i close the tray it makes a weird noise like the cd is skipping or scratching then im at the home screen and it says "open tray" what is the problem and how do i fix it my xbox 360 console wont read any discs, i put a brand new game or dvd, and there is no error message, it just says Open Tray,like if nothing is in the system
Its definately an internal problem, just have the people at microsoft repair your console.

hey, open up your xbox if it isnt under warrenty, if you cnopen the dvd drive, look to see on the underside, of the top metal case, if there is a little round magnet stuck there, if so you need to superglue that to the center of your dvd drive moter, smooth side up. it should fit very nicely. slap it back together and whalla

check if you CD is break in the center. If it break, go in a EBGAME and told them your problem.

Your CD/DVD drive has failed mechanically. Usually this is a physical problem where the disc is simply no longer in alignment with the laser. It does not necessarily mean something will make noise, and can be just one small part slightly bent or broken so the disk now moves freely top to bottom.
If you can do a warranty repair, you're set. But if you are no longer under warranty, you only have two options. you can try and replace the drive, which although odd shaped; I think is just a standard IDE drive, or you can shift the XBOX 90 degrees to Re-orient the box. In some cases this may let gravity hold in place what the internal mechanisms no longer are.
