Hi this could be the oil and pump seals worn. Also make sure that you don,t have the transit plug in or the pump cannot breath. It should have a air vented dipstick.

The age for a pressure washer depends mostly on the speed range mostly in two speeds in 1600 or 2800 rpm. a 2800 rpm is usually an entry level model and an age of 7 or 8 years on average. the 1600 rmp and with a brass pump is a quality product, and if its COMET Kraenzle DIBO INTER PUMP than it pays,, in your case http://www.partselect.com/Models/PW165001LE/#Parts

B&E pressure washer w/ comet 3540 pump

Things to check:
1) is water coming out of the bottom of the pump or is the oil in the crankcase high level and milky yellow. If so your seals are bad.

2) Your check valves might not be seating properly. A couple of fouled check vavles will cause either no pressure or pulsing pressure. A good inlet water strainer keeps foreign matter out of valves. But valves do wear out and get build up that keeps them from working right.

3) Your unloader valve might be worn or fouled. Bad unloader would usually show as low pressure ( but more than hose pressure) or low volume out the trigger nozzle.

Valves are your most likely problem.

On our electric pressure washer. Nolonger works. Disconnected the pump from motor. Motor spins freely. My guess is pump is bad?mike

Good guess. You can find parts at: www.pressure-washer-parts.com
They handle comet pumps. See if you can find the number on the pump. Not a bad brand of pump, but they do wear out. Never run pump dry, never let idle more than a couple of minutes, the water recirculates in pump and gets hot. Install a temp relief vavle when you rebuild.

No water coming out of the pump

Hi
Is the pump working?
Some pressure washers need to suck the water out of a container, not pressure fed from a hose.
Check the filter for blockage.

Cannot start my Comet pressure washer...water runs thru fine. Had set choke to open (push to left) and start to left.

Hi: Some things to check: Is the gas old or contaminated with water. Change it if you are unsure. Are you getting a spark? To check this: BE CAREFUL. Remove the plug. Plug it back into its wire. Hold it WITH INSULATED PLIERS so the tip is close to the metal frame of the machine and have someone pull the starter cord. The plug should spark.
