Somehow I misplaced the booklet that came with my evenflo natural fit carrier, and now I can't seem to figure out how to properly buckle the carrier for the "hip" position. Front and back are pretty straightforward, but I can't really tell if I'm doing it right whenever we try to sidewear. Help.

Looks pretty straight forward. There are also videos on youtube of people demonstrating the different positions.

I had the same problem with our snugli serenade...
I used model number 0651767 mfg date jan 01 08. It found part number 25707046 that was a downloadable pdf.
May be a newer model but it seems the same as my 2005.
