My recently acquired unlocked O2 Trion (HTC Hermes) has developed a fault. When I tap
'Start' on the opening screen the dropdown list appears for a fraction
of a second and then vanishes. The only way I can access the list is to
press in the scroll wheel on the left side, I can then select the
program I want but as soon as I release the scroll wheel the phone
reverts back to the opening screen. I have tried both soft and hard
resets and also updated the ROM to no avail. It is as if something is not latching or there is a faulty connection. Sometimes when the wnd is in the right direction it will work for about five minutes but then reverts back to the fault condition.

Performing a factory reset using hardware buttons If you can't turn HTC One V on or access settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using the hardware buttons on HTC One V. 1. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button. 2. Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons. 3. Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button. HTC One V not responding? If HTC One V frozen and does not respond when you touch the screen or press the buttons, you can still restart it by press and hold the POWER button for at least 10 seconds, and then release it. HTC One V then restarts.
Most likely you have activated the Macro function. Usually this function is illustrated by a flower icon. This function is used to shoot from very small distances. Deactivate the macro function.
what country rom would like? http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=306
go there first thing you need to install is the hermes sim & CID unlocker if you havent got HARDspl installed already. Then you can floash any rom on that specific forum, DO NOT try to flash a rom from another type of phone. A hermes is a also a 8525,mda vario II jasjam etc so any roms on that link will be fine for your device and happy flashing
You need to return it to an o2 store for repair. If it's not under guarantee, I'd be very wary of spending any money on it as I had exactly the same problem and my phone has been back time and again for repair and still isn't right. Could be very costly.
Hiya,
the software that came with the trion is out of date, it offers microsoft active sync 4.0 or 4.2.
Go to Microsoft site and get Microsoft active Sync 4.5.
It worked for me
Good Luck

NO you can't do that but you can unlock the CID and sim and then flash a custom hermes rom from xda-developer.com but first you need to run thi unlocker to unlock the sim and CID.
http://pof.eslack.org/hermes-unlocker/
Run this unlocker on your phone. Follow the instructions exactly. Don't
unlock the CID unless you planning on installing another custom rom
other than ATT on it.
u just do one thing..restart ur phone again..& when it asks u to set up ur windows..than tap on the black spot firmly ...u just need to tap on than spot only..nthing else after that leave..it will start processing..& ur phone will be on.
I also tried re-soldering joint L781 on the main power control board (see Solutions #2 and #7). It worked. My 15 inch Dell flat panel LCD is working again, white screen gone. The solder around the pin did looked different to to the other joints...a very slight gap around the pin as though it wasn't contacting properly. To locate L781, look at the bottom of the PCB (the side with the soldering) with the power plug socket at the edge closest to you. L781 is in the top left quadrant of the board, about 2 inches in from left, 1 inch down from the top. For good measure, I also tried the solution that suggested trimming a millimeter of the end of the two data ribbons that plug into the smaller control board, although I couldn't see anything wrong with the data ribbons. I did this at the same time as resoldering L781 so not sure if it made any difference.
