SOURCE: Blury Display on FE140

It sounds like your lens's focus element is stuck. Given the events you describe it is possible that a grain of sand has worked its way into the focus motor's gearing and jammed it up. Normally the small motor moves the focus optic in and out to achieve proper focus, if its movement is limited or completely jammed you will experience blurry pictures. The camera will have to be disassembled and the sand cleaned out to restore normal function. There are repair providers you can find online who can work on your camera. SOURCE: No picture on lcd screen

I have the same problem but sadly no solution.

As my camera is still under warranty I took it back to Jessops.  The camera is now with Olympus for repair.  The technician in Jessops hazarded a guess that the problem is a broken processor sitting behind the lens and as such the problem is "really bad".

Here's hoping you are still under warranty.

SOURCE: Black Spot in center of view finder

it could be your screen or something more serious on the actual circuit board. The screen is fairly easy to replace, assuming you can find a replacement ("easy" meaning you need to be willing to take it apart, which will definitely void your warranty, and remove about 15 screws and a cable, then be able to plug it all back in and put it back together without breaking. you also need good dexterity and a set of watchmakers screwdrivers.).

SOURCE: No matter what batteries I buy camera will no longer take a pic.

This camera is noteworthy for this problem. Only non-rechargeable batteries seemed to work, and that gets expensive! But the solution for me was simple. You have to spend a little more money upfront, and get high capacity (e.g. 2450 mAh) batteries. You should be able to get those at Target or Walmart. The 2100 mAh ones just won't do the job.

Using the cheap, low capacity rechargeable batteries, I could only get a few shots off. With the high capacity ones, I can do 40 or so easily.

I have a nikon d 40 and was wondering if the display screen can be used to preview the shot instead of using the eye piece .

The Nikon D40 is not equipped with the Live View feature which allows the user to use the camera's LCD to preview the shot. You can only use the viewfinder eye piece.

The Monitor screen doesn't work when I want to take a photo, I can only see picture through eye piece.

If your screen works in playback mode, the screen and flexible circuit boards are intact. To shoot an image using the LCD screen you must first activate the "live view" function in the setup menu, and then press the live view (Lv) button to view your image on the LCD.

How do you turn off the highlight mode

You can turn it off. Turn on the camera, press 'view' (arrow pointing right abover the menu button). Wind the round selector through the various options and leave on the screen which displays the image info on it at the bottom - the shot count is in the top right hand corner. There is no full screen option without.
