Error code L4-30

Error code 246 does not seem to be a defined error code from Canon. However if you go to page 13-176 in the service manual at this site and run the error log report, it should give you some indication of what actual error codes are occurring at that time. This should help narrow down the cause. All the possible error codes for both copier and fax are listed in these pages.

Error E005 means the fuser cleaner roller has run out & may need a replacement. If the error is false it will disappear by following the reset procedure. To clear this error code press * 2 and 8 * in that 2&8 are pressed simultaneously. Go to the web counter and clear the counter back to Zero (0). Machine will now restart your machine & error code will disappear. If this doesn't help then try clearing both web counters in service mode, COUNTER>MISC>FIX-WEB> and COUNTER>DRBL-1>FIX-WEB> perform a Error Clear in service mode FUNCTION>CLEAR>ERR>. Normally you can clean the build up of toner off the sensor, and it'll sort itself out. It also could happen by having 5 paperjams in a row.

You might need to run a service mode to reset the machine:

P * C * 14 (start) then 1 for Yes and follow on screen directions, code should clear out.

turn on the copier and quickly press * (with the little head around it) then 2 and 8 at the same time, then the * again... this should put you in service mode. now press copier >funtcion>clear>err>ok. now turn the copier off and back on, If the code comes back call your service local service tech.
