As an Added Note, I had this problem and googled it. This resulted in me trying Registry editing, and al sorts of things. I checked my clock and date settings a dozen times and it was always correct. It was also auto syncing to Microsoft and this was correct. BUT still the problem persisted. Out of desperation I changed the clock back 6 months and 12 hours, then tried to log in to Live Mail and it worked, I then changed the clock back and downloaded my mail.

Anybody can help me with this? When i try

Solutions to MSN Error Code 81000306 1) Wait for MSN to repair their Server! Meanwhile check the status of the Messenger service, at: http://messenger.msn.com/Status.aspx
2) Delete ListCache.dat
Launch CMD and navigate to %appdata%\microsoft.
CD %appdata%\microsoft
Dir /s ListCache.dat
Decide if you want to delete the cache.
Del /s ListCache.dat
Restart your MSN Messenger.
3) Register softpub.dll.
Click Start (Button), and then click Run, type regsvr32 softpub.dll. Restart MSN Messenger.
It would do no harm to also use regsvr32 to re-register: wintrust.dll, initpki.dll, Rsaenh.dll Mssip32.dll and Cryptdlg.dll. Here is the command string to register these dlls. Launch the 'Run' command and paste:
regsvr32 softpub.dll Wintrust.dll Initpki.dll Rsaenh.dll Mssip32.dll Cryptdlg.dll
4) Another problem could be firewall related, thus try temporarily disabling the firewall. If this cures the problem, make sure that MSN Messenger is allowed full access through the firewall.
Your problem could also be related to Error Code 80048820
5) If other people can access the MSN Messenger service, and you are the only one getting Error Code 81000306, then you could look at your anti-virus software. Has anything changed recently?
6) One more thought, could your account be locked out? Try another account if have one, or can create a new account.

Key ports

I had the same problem and I tried everything I found in all kind of forums but nothing every seems to work.
What it worked for me was:

First:

Clear your proxy settings in Internet Explorer:

  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. On the Connections tab, click LAN Settings.
  4. Clear the Automatically detect settings check box.
  5. Click OK, and then click OK again.
Then:

Check Internet Explorer security settings:
  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. On the Advanced tab, in the Security section, make sure that the Check for server certificate revocation check box is cleared. Also, make sure that the Use SSL 2.0 and the Use SSL 3.0 check boxes are selected.
  4. Click OK.
Apply Changes.
