Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Washer completes cycle 100% but then it restarts and starts filling all over again/ rewashes in essence

I have watched all of the lights light up and it goes through the entire cycle but then it just goes back to fill the machine and the light all the way to the left which is the Fill light. I have now done another operation and that is setting the cycle to spin only. The washer did the spin only and after it drained what water was inside of the machine and did the spin, the motor stopped the spin only, the light shut off and after approximately 10 to 15 seconds, the machine started the spin only cycle. This is useful in case we can't get down fast enough to unplug the machine at end of cycle, we can set the dial to spin only and let the clothes get spun again because of our fault. We can unplug the machine, when we feel the clothes have spun enough and most of the water is out.

I think firmly that the washer does not know when the cycle literally ends and it just loses memory that it finished the "cycle". If there is a switch that has to move to turn all operation off then that could be the culprit also.

What kind and model of washing machine do you have?

I had originally typed in the model of the machine I believe but I can not find it in my profile or under my machines so I will have to look at the sheet of paper at home tonight to answer that question.

I do know that the machine ends with DOWW and the machine is a GE that we purchased 11 years ago. That I am certain of.

I have narrowed the washer model down to two of them and they are GE WKRE6280D0WW or GE WNRE6280D0WW I was able to narrow down to those two because there are two buttons to the right of the main control knob and this was the only two of them that appeared on the list of models which ended in DOWW from a list of all GE Washers. I looked through around 20 models and most did not have two buttons over there. some did have one but I knew that there were two and that helped narrow it down. thanks.

I think that the timer is correct,if the timer has a countdown sequence and when it reaches zero, the machine does stop. I think that this item does work in the sense that the washer does all of the cycles and I am sure that the time is correct for the various sequences. For instance there is a light for the 3 different minute times and each one operated as it should. I will say that they seemed to work, using my mental timing to get a sense whether the times were correct. Back to the next item that you named and that being the sequencer, I am not sure what the function of this part is. If the sequencer makes step 1 fill go to step 2 agitate then go to step 3, etc. You may have nailed the nail on the top with that one. If the sequencer is supposed to know when the complete operation is done, then you could be right. Does the sequencer make a mechanical operation which ends the contact of electrical current to the motor or something similar. I will look to see if I see this item on the owners manual online. I will close for now. The exact model number is WWRE6260DOWW. I will add this item to inventory on this site. Thank you very much for your few suggestions. I will take them into strong consideration.

Dear William Jacobs, the sequencer/timer controls everything in your washing machine. There are sensors that tell the timer that it has to advance to the next sequence when a condition is met. And there is also a cam that triggers a switch that tells that the cycle is done.

I do think that this is at fault. because on Friday when I had to unplug the machine. I was hearing a stop to the spin cycle several times and sometimes it would speed up and other times it would not speed up if you know what I mean. My wife said that the machine is now stopping for no reason and she is attempting to baby the machine. We are tempted to look for a replacement for our large family. thanks for your help. financially, that may be our best decision long term inspite of our using this service and the time. The repair places want to charge at least $100 to look at it no matter what and then charge for the part and then charge for the installation of it. I do not like saying that but that is the truth of the matter. I do seek to help out others with this fix ya in the future, if I could find the right topic to look at maybe. take care.

  • Paolo Torres Jan 20, 2014

Actually, I opine that the lever that activates the switch in your sequencer for stopping is worn out or broken that is why when the cam reaches that particular sequence, the switch will not activate. It may also be that the cam is already worn out or damaged. This happens if the switch is being turned immediately just as the machine is about to have the cycle done. So after the thing has been repaired, advise your wife just to let the machine settle down until it has done its washing. Adjusting the timer along the way is not a good thing to do while it is already in the cycle. Otherwise your best option is to stop the machine then let it settle for a while before doing any adjustments.

Dear William, I guess first you have to check if the start switch is shorted. When you turn on the machine, does it automatically go into cycle? If yes, then your start switch is faulty. Otherwise, you may have to replace your timer/sequencer.

1st I checked the power, compressor in garage had tripped the breaker to the washer circuit. This model has no bells or whistles to tell you if the power is on to the unit. Reset the breaker and unit works.

if you are saying that the washer finishes the load of clothes and timer goes to off and water is filling the tub after this then you have a bad water valve on the back of the washer.disconnect the water lines and change out the valve

Whirlpool cabrio wtw5600xw0 will not spin

I had the power button off so no lights were lit. I also tried it in teh done mode. None of the buttons put it into self test.

My issue with spinning is it will not complete the spin cycle and the lid lock light flashes leaving water in the tub. If I out the machine on drin and spin it will remove most of the water
I also tried the soil level temp keydance to check the console self test and it would not go into that mode either.

Hello there:
If your cycle does not complete or The cycle doesn't advance
When the cycle should advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem: It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer. It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. than check the cold water supply line and the filter

Washer doesn't complete cycles

Sounds like an electronics problem. Get a Bosch repair person to look at it. Hopefully, they can reset the computer inside. Otherwise, it's a part that costs more than $200, as I recall, plus too much to do the work. Bosch's 1-800 person once advised me to unplug my washer - a model 2401 - for a half-hour as a way to reset the electronics. You might try that. Pray to the appliance gods. Maybe your machine is still under warranty. Trouble is, you'll probably have to wait for days until an authorized, over-priced repair person comes to visit. Bosch is way behind in service levels here in the U.S. They know it, but it's not worth their time or money to fix, it seems. A long story ....

Door Light won't go out

Hi, Does the door lock? Usually when you close the door it locks and allows the water to fill, then it starts the wash cycle. If when you close the door it does not fill, then it could be the door interlock which is at fault. Tom.
